Disney Princess (Ignore the people in the world who wouldn't like this). Do anda think it'd be cool to have a boy who wants to be called a Princess and not a Prince, and ends up a DP?

Why is only one opinion allowed? I don't think it's right to pretend that a boy is a girl, and vice versa. The ending of the word "Princess" means the feminine form of "Prince". So biology, the English language and reality says no.

It really depends on how they approach it. I agree with Angelica_AW.

I agree with Angelica_AW, but generally I don't think I would feel very comfortable with the whole idea.

I agree with emeraldcoast55. Everyone should have the right to choose any sexual preferances, for instance any boy should have the right to be gay or prefer more feminine hobbies etc but why calling himself a girl (or princess as in this case?). This is not about society, this is about nature and biology, and if he's born a boy then that's what he is and he should be proud of it. Calling yourself different from what you are is not freedom and open-mindness. It's self-rejection. So no.

^Transgender people do exist, it is not self-rejection, it is more like you were born in the wrong body. It think it could be great to have a disney movie like that, after that the kids who would watch it could be more oppen-minded and understand transgender person better. (Sorry for the bad english).

Guys, if a person is transgendered then it doesn't mean that they are rejecting themselves, they are rejecting the body they were born into because their brains perceive themselves as the opposite sex. It literally is nature and biology; to be transgender means that the brain does not match up with the body. Doctors have done MRI scans of transgender individuals and have found that trans women (born into male bodies ) have "female" brains and trans men (born into female bodies) have "male" brains. It is disingenuous at best and prejudiced at worst to say that a person can have any sexual preference (something you don't choose by the way) yet state that a person has to conform to the body they were born in.

I do agree that if Disney were to undertake a project it would be incredibly risky, they would have to put all of their effort into it and hire transgender writers and artists to make the project work. It would also require a much more tolerant and just society for people to accept a transgender character, especially coming from such a conservative company such as Disney and such a lucrative franchise as the DP lineup.

Right now though, we live in a society that is hostile and even violent toward transgendered individuals. I will direct you to the case of Leela Alcorn, a trans girl who posted her suicide note on Tumblr and then stepped in front of a truck. Her parents were Christian fundamentalists who took her to "therapists" to "fix" her but all they did was tell her how worthless she was and that she should be ashamed of her feelings. After her suicide, her parents still referred to her as a boy and did not acknowledge her pain, even in death.

It would be incredible if Disney had a transgendered character in the DP lineup and it would mean the world to transgender fans who love Disney (in the same way that Disney finally had a black princess). Unfortunately, Disney won't consider such a thing because of all the controversy it would cause. Please remember that transgender people are not sick and are not delusional, they need and deserve representation just as any other minority group does.
