Harry Potter’s Emma Watson sure knows her Hogwarts houses upside down, back to front.
This new clip proves Hermione Granger’s alter-ego is clued-up on all the subtle details of what makes someone a member of Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin or Gryffindor.
She’s demonstrated this by outlining which characters in hit Broadway show Hamilton: The Musical would go in which house, during an interview with the show’s star and writer Lin-Manuel Miranda.
And when she learns Daniel Radcliffe picked a different house for Lin-Manuel’s character, she says: ‘Why though? But why? I’m gonna have to call him about this.’

The houses are split into smarty pants’ Ravenclaw, baddies’ Slytherin, loyal pushovers’ Hufflepuff and brave do-gooders’ Gryffindor (Picture: Warner Bros)
It would seem Emma’s definition of a Gryffindor alum is ‘all authenticity, all courage’ – and that Slytherins who improve themselves can just about scrape Hufflepuff. Interesting.
The interview with the actors was carried out as part of Emma’s work for campaign HeForShe which aims to engage men and boys around the world to become agents of gender equality.
Naturally it seems Emma is the go-to girl if you do want to be sorted properly and don’t have access to the relevant hat.
In the same interview Emma also demonstrated her beatboxing skills but got really embarrassed about it.
