Chapter 2 with the saat part of the tajuk that started with chapter 1
Chapter 2: (Knock knock. Who's there?) Change
All five of them, Hugh, Lisa, William, Charles and Rebecca, went through the LA general hospital door. As they moved down the hallway, to the nurse station, they got a quite few stares. That was exactly why selebriti never went to public hospitals.
As soon as Hugh had finished talking with Lisa on the phone, he'd went to wake the kids, as Lisa told him to. After all, they'd better found out what was happening from him, than from the news.
Charles had been the first one woken up. Hugh took some time to explain him what happened, trying not to scare him too much, although he was scared like never before. Charles had then woken up Billy, and Hugh had gone to wake up Rebecca.
Groggy from the sleep, the sixteen-year-old didn't understand what was happening and thought she was having a nightmare. She had gotten dressed up, still not realizing what she'd been told.
Lisa had come to pick them up quickly after. The moment she stepped in the house, she spotted Hugh and the kids waiting impatiently sejak the stairs. Hugh had lit up a cigaret before she came. He was too nervous. He knew Lisa hated when he smoked, but right then, he didn't care.
As soon as he saw her, he put the cigaret out and leaped into a hug. He started crying a little, she told him to stay strong. The kids' eyes were filled with fear as they drove away to the hospital.
As they got to the nurse station, Hugh realized how many people there were in the clinics. Most of them were family waiting for the news of their loved ones that had been on the same plane as Jo. However, there were also stretchers with less injured, and other passengers hurt in the crash were being driven over ever other minute.
The place was a mess. Hugh felt alarmed and terrified. He searched for Lisa's hand and held it tight. In the moment like this, he was really glad he had a friend like her. Someone who would be there for him no matter what.
Rebecca held his hand as well as she gazed around the clinics in shock.
“Dad? What do we do?” Charles asked from behind them, where he and his brother were standing.
“I'll find the nurse” Lisa said, but as she started to pull away, Hugh tightened the grip around her hand.
“Don't leave” he said, not recognizing his own voice. It was then that one of the nurses came over to them, possibly giving them lebih attention because they weren't just anybody. They were doctors on TV.
Hugh instantly thought how ironic it all was. House dealt with injured and/or sick every day. And he helped them.
Hugh couldn't.
This was all his fault. Jo should have never been on that plane, if he wasn't living in the US...He blamed himself for what happened to her.
What happened to her... He knew very little about what happened.
“Mr. Laurie?” the nurse nudged him a little, he snapped from his thoughts immediately.
“Yes?” he spoke small, he felt Becca's grip tighten, just as his did to Lisa's hand.
“Your wife...” the nurse started as she looked at the file which she was carrying around. She looked up at Lisa, Hugh swore she was escaping him. That couldn't be good.
“Just tell us, please” Hugh heard Billy ask, his voice drenched with fear.
Hugh's legs started trembling, if it weren't for Lisa, he would've fell.
The nurse looked at the file again, drops of sweat started forming on Hugh's forehead. “Your wife is being operated on...” the nurse's eyes met Lisa's again, Hugh's hati, tengah-tengah started pounding faster.
“I can't tell anda lebih until the doctor comes... I know this is hard for you, but you'll have to wait in the lobby” she nodded to Lisa, and turned her head to the woman standing near by, she as well trying to find out some news.
“Dad, I'm scared” Rebecca whispered to Hugh, her eyes now full with tears.
“It's gonna be ok, sweetie” Hugh heard Lisa say, he didn't know if it was alright to give, what could be, a fake hope to the kids, but Becca seemed to calm down for a bit, so Hugh stopped questioning it.
Three hours later, they were all still waiting for news in the lobby. Rebecca had fallen asleep on the uncomfortable chair, exhausted from the crying. Billy and Charles were away at the vending machines, getting angry at it as it refused to give them two bars of Sneekers as they paid for.
Hugh was sitting on one of the few couches with Lisa seterusnya to him. For whatever reason, he never let go of her hand. It was that small gesture that gave him a bit comfort in the horrible situation.
Lisa had made dozens of phone calls, calling her dad to pull some strings where he could so they'd find out something about Jo. But not even him, nor the other doctors her dad could rely on, couldn't help them find out what was going on.
The hospital was in chaos, the family members of injured pacing through the lobby and hallways, trying to get every bit of information they could.
What Hugh found really sad, was that, that was the first time he wasn't asked for an autograph in a room filled with so many people.
Lost in his thoughts, Hugh felt Lisa's other hand on his shoulder, and he looked up.
“Hugh, the doctor is here” she berkata in such a low voice, if she'd spoken a bit lower, she would have been whispering.
Hugh raised his gaze and met the doctor's eyes. He gulped in anticipation.
“Mr. Laurie...” the doctor began, Hugh's hand in Lisa's shaking. Lisa put her other hand over theirs, but Hugh wasn't sure it was a protective gesture, atau was she trying to make his hand still.
“Mr. Laurie, your wife...” the doctor took a breath “hurt her head in the crash...” Hugh gasped as the doctor continued
“Her brain suffered a cerebral hemorrhage , and it brain started swelling because it was--”
“Is she alright?” Hugh interrupted him, not being able to wait any longer.
“Mr. Laurie...” the young doctor paused “I'm so sorry, there was not much we could do...”
Hugh started shaking. This wasn't happening. This. Was. Not. Happening. His wife just... died.
What was he suppose to do? How could he tell his kids their mum was dead? And, what was he to do now?
As he broke down in tears, Lisa turned to him, and embraced him in hug.
At least... he had her.
Oh ... yeah.. The thing I never did before....
Kill Jo....
No... I did NOT mistake it for Kill joy XDDDDD
Reviews are love!!! :D
