Icicle's been here longer than almost everyone here, and she was one of the very first few fans to get the die-hard medal. Plus, her coments always make me laugh.

I'm adding my requisite comment now. As you'll see, I haven't made a pick yet. I may in the future, however.

The current tie is an interesting scenario. I recall a tie several days ago as well when the total votes were in the low 30s. If there's still a tie on May 1, would the House of Representatives have to decide the winner (Amendment XII)?

In the meantime, I would like to make a proposition. Last year, the election was held in August; now were holding one in April. To avoid confusion for future cycles, I move that all future elections will only be held in April. Further, presidential terms should have a fixed starting and ending date: May 1 of one year to May 1 of the next.

It's so sad that we have over 2000 fans, but only 46 have voted. :o

But out of those 2000 and some fans, only a couple hundred have ever even commented here, and even less have been regular enough fans to would care about the election. And then alot of those fans left awhile ago.

This poll is like a seesaw. Every time I take a look at the results it's either me or Metallica1147 up by a slim margin. It's possible this might go into extra innings.

@hanz1192: I understand that opportunity should be given to others. If I win again, I wouldn't be against limiting myself to just the two terms. I have no intent to become another FDR (elected to four terms, but died just months into the fourth).

Now with 60 total voters, there is now a tie once again, 35% to 35%, as of April 28 at 1:59 a.m.

Regardless of whoever wins this, I think that the closeness of the election supports this spot also having a vice president, as was briefly discussed in the "Re-Election!" forum. The community is large enough for a vice presidency to be worthwhile, and awarding the post to the runner-up in the election seems both fair and rewarding.

@SJF-I know this sounds weird, but can I ask why you voted for me? I mean, I think it's great you did, but...I don't know, I'm just curious, because unless you chose randomly, you must have a reason.

@xDark_Angelx: I believe that votes should be earned, so I did not choose randomly, nor would I encourage others to vote randomly for the same reason. Early on, I was unsure if I should vote at all because I wasn't sure if it would be a proper role for me to do so, but I decided to vote for you several days ago. Not to diminish the contributions of anyone else, but I have seen you make several insightful comments lately around the spot, which have made a good impression. I also appreciate your support of me in the election and all the reviews you gave to my "East of Nowhere" fanfic last month.

In your speech, you say that you decided to run because you "don't just want to be a random face on this spot, or just some nobody." With my vote and your Dedicated Fan medal, I can assure you that you are a valued contributor here.

This is not a matter I bring up easily, especially because this election is intended to be just for fun. However, I have reason to believe that some of the results of this election are illegitimate or artificially inflated by use of multiple accounts.

For many days now, there has been a consistently small margin among this election's top two contenders, a margin that seems to remain steady even while the total number of voters increases in number. In addition, I have been provided evidence which seems to substantiate this claim.

It is important to stress a principle of "one person, one vote." This is not the same as "one account, one vote." If you have possession of more than one account, it is important to hold yourself to an honor system and not use that account to vote again for your favorite candidate, whether that candidate be me or anyone else. If I am to win or to lose it should only be because of legitimacy.

Unfortunately, regardless of whoever is on top at the close of this poll, I feel that this pick has been tainted too much to be redeemed. Even if I am the winner by it, I would feel awkward knowing some people voted for me more than once. Therefore, as much as I really hate to do it, I propose that a new pick be created in its place to run throughout the month of May. In addition, all voters on such a new pick should be required to post a comment so that all can publicly see that there is no indication of multiple account usage.

Very good idea SJF about being required to post a comment if you vote. I wish I could have thought of that myself.

@evviefoxx: It would require someone to have to go through all the comments to keep a tally, but I think it's worth the extra effort and would eliminate the influence of fly-by-night accounts. I'm glad you like my proposal.

Alright SJF, I'll vote only once :D. But wait, my other account voted for AgenyJazzy00, does that mean I still have to erase my vote, because it seems that she only has a few people who voted for her, and it would not matter If I vote or not, because it's between you and Metallica. :D

@LeonardFan: I won't tell you who you should vote for, but you should undo one of your votes. Either way, however, there really needs to be a new pick created to make things fair. Not everyone who voted more than once is going to be as open about it as you.

@SJF-I, for one, did not make another account to vote for me or anyone else. Before when I didn't have a single vote, I admit, I considered it to vote to myself-but that was before. But, hypothetically, if someone won by just vote-that was on my other account-that would be so unfair for everyone. I'd never forgive myself, and it's just sad. So I just ignored that part of me that wanted to do so. So I believe it would be a good idea to go through a tally.

However, if someone is doing it (yet I have no idea if anyone is doing it, but this is just in case someone is), then...just don't do it. Like I said, it's unfair to everyone, and it really isn't going to help anyone, even the person you voted for.

I only have one account, so I'm not to blame for this. :] It's not truly fair for people to do that, no. But some of them may not even know they're doing that, so let's not just punish the people that did, that'd be even more unfair.

That would explain why there was so many damn votes on here cause I know 78 fans don't come here on everyday.

Maybe not EVERY day, but we do have quite a few fans that come here semi-regularly. I don't think alot of the fans here voted at all yet. But I do think that some of the votes might be from fans with multiple accounts, or maybe from fans that don't really come here at all but saw this and decided to vote for their friends. Not too many of the voters, but a few.

I think so? I don't know, the poll's being wierd. I don't think anyone else is voting anyway, so what's everyone want to do? Another poll where we need to comment, or just stick with this one? We need to decide today.

I don't think we truly need to start a new one. If someone is voting twice, we're probably not going to be able to do anything about that. Unless we have a way of knowing that two accounts are the same person.

Or we could just call SJF and Metallica co-presidents, or Brandon president and SJF vice president, so they both get recognition even ifthe voting was a little off.

@Penguinangel: While I have been slightly suspicious for several days, I did not bring up this matter until the last minute because I did not have substantial evidence. The evidence came my way only yesterday and it suggests that there was a direct effort for multiple accounts to be used to vote for one particular candidate.

While I do not oppose the concept of having a president and a vice president, the only way to get an honest determination of who won the top spot is a do-over. If we were to have another election, I wouldn't be surprised if there were 10 or 20 fewer votes in it because we wouldn't be allowing multiple accounts. If the club wishes to only have a week-long election between me and Metallica1147 instead of a complete do-over, that's not for me to decide. But knowing who is voting for who through comments, and only counting the votes of people who have commented, is the only way to eliminate the problems that spoiled the past election.

Trust me, I am not pushing for a do-over because I may have lost. I am pushing for one because the system was flawed and allowed deception. Honesty is all I care about.

How about counting the votes for those who commented here right now, I mean we already have people who have comments here. Why don't we just count them now? :D. Those are the only votes that count.

@LeonardFan: Counting only those who have commented would place me ahead 13-9. However, this would be adding a rule after the fact. Even though it is an advantage in my favor, it still isn't right.

True, but even so it's still a problem, even those who have commented might be double accounts even if they're owned by the same person. There are really persistent people like those :D. People will always find a way to cheat, and this is one of it.

Unless we can meet every POM fan in person and get them face-face to vote (which I know will never happen), there will always be cheating involved, no matter what we do.

@LeonardFan: I suppose any system here on Fanpop cannot be 100% foolproof. However, most people who would vote and comment would be people who have contributed something to this spot, and it's pretty obvious that our seasoned regulars are not sockpuppets of each other. If an unfamiliar account posts a comment, a simple check of their Fanpop contributions (comments, etc.) would help determine if they are a legitimate user or just a single-purpose account.

I really wish this election wasn't riddled with problems. Where's jungle lawyer Maurice when you need him?
