"Sola fide" ('by faith alone') is solely a Protestant atau evangelical Protestant belief- the older denominations (such as Orthodoxy and Catholicism) believe faith must go hand-in-hand with works, and that salvation is a life-long process. Sorry for the block of text and the copious amounts of Scripture. It's just one belief I can't theologically get my head around, especially considering the implications. Hitler, too, was reported to be quite religious.
