I think so yeah; especially online. I have a tendency to leave really lengthy komen-komen when debating and/or part-taking in fandom meta. And I feel like sometimes people take it as me trying to be patronizing/condescending and/or argumentative when that's not the case.
It's kind of ironic because the very reason I leave such long and explanation heavy komen-komen is because I'm trying to avoid misunderstandings and misconceptions.

So sometimes I feel like people see me as self-righteous atau argumentative. When really all I usually want to do is just have a civil discussion.

Yeah this is also me lol. Online debating always seems lebih "aggressive"/confrontational - part of the reason is that people are still able to convey the logical points just as well as irl, but we lose the ability to convey a lot of the social things that go with that (smiling, nodding to acknowledge their point, looking interested in what they have to say, not interrupting). Which is unfortunate coz the those social things are really important in conveying respect for the other person... so we have to resort to explicitly Penulisan "softeners" online (eg."I mostly agree but I just wanna point out...", "I just wanna put some lebih info up for everyone") which aren't as effective AND can sometimes be perceived as disingenuous :/ Guys I promise I don't use these passive-aggressively, I truly mean them LOL

And yeah I worry about seeming self-righteous/argumentative too, irl I avoid confrontation like the plague and am a massive pushover LOL

Yes, people look at me and because I'm a male, they automatically assume that I wanna eat their children ("eat" in both meanings), which could not be lebih false. All I wanna do is set the chuck e cheese mascot ablaze. HE'S the hungry one who the parents should be concerned about, have anda seen what goes on in those washrooms?
