Do anda think that Sweeney Todd gets lebih sympathy just because of Johnny Depp.

I, personally, didn't sympathize with Sweeney because Johnny played him in the movie. I sympathize with Sweeney because I think he got the short end of the stick. He was unjustly thrown in jail, only to escape and find out his wife was "dead" and his daughter was in the clutches of the man who put him in prison.

I can see where you're coming from though. I don't know how people reacted to the Broadway Sweeney atau Sweeney from the book, as I don't know many people who've read the book/seen the play. I think Johnny might have a hand in it - he's a brilliant actor who's a genius at bringing out the lebih "human" side of "ugly" (meaning, the "bad" good guys) characters.

I sympathize for him, but not because he is played sejak Johnny Depp, I also do in the Broadway musical, although I do not in the 1936 movie, since his only motivation there to kill was greed, not revenge. Also, Sweeney Todd is the protagonist in this work, not the antagonist (according to the dictionary).

Of course not. But do to the fact that the movie is based on a true story i do feel a little sympathetic for Sweeny. (:

Well Johnny Depp is an amazing actor and i Cinta him very much BUT i dont think it was because of Johnny dep i feel sumpathy for Sweeney, i feel sympathy for him because i understand where he was coming from and why he wanted revenge so bad. He Lost in wife and daughter and he was trying to do what he could to get them back :P

People feel sympathy for the CHARACTER Johnny Depp created.

Well yes but no... No, It wasn't just because it was Johnny Depp, like "Oh the bad guy is johnny depp, I Cinta Johnny Depp, so I like the bad guy" I think he gets lebih sympathy because of what Johnny printed to the character, the personality that he gave him and the way he played it, so I'm saying, if there's other actor who can add all those things to the character, it can get the same simphaty.. so I think it kind of has to do with beeing Johnny but not just cus is him, but for the capability he has as an actor and what he can reaches to. I hope I made my point, enlgish and me are not good friends

My Cinta for Sweeney's character started before the Johnny Depp movie.
I understand where you're coming from; however, there's just something about his character that is still good regardless of what he has done.
