Jealous, spiteful, and snotty; That's the way everyone sees Hera, Goddess of Marriage and Queen of Olympus. We've been talking about the possibility that she would be in the Lost Hero for quite some time, now. The other hari Disney Hyperion launched their Heroes of Olympus site, and confirmed our theory. The only thing is, it doesn't seem like our theory as to why she is there is the real answer. The DH site's huraian of Hera says that she needs a little assistance from some demigods because her powers are restricted. Why? I've got a few theories.
The Curse
So, sejak now I think I've drilled the curse Hera put on Annabeth into everyone's permenent memories. Now, we know that it affected Annabeth the most, but at the end of TLO Hera tells Percy that she'll leave him and Annabeth (not totally confirmed) alone. I've got this theory brewing that the other Olympians knew about the curse, but didn't get the memo about it being called off. I'm thinking that maybe after Percy's dissappearence the gods (Poseidon) got ticked off and blamed her. If it is the will of the council (or he's pressured into it) Zeus will do just about anything. So, maybe it was decided that Hera's powers would be restricted because Percy is MIA, and, despite the marital relationship, Zeus complied.
Inner Power Struggle
We all read the character info on Hera, right? Yeah, I thought so...Now, it berkata something about Hera having another state of being: Her Roman side, Juno. While Membaca one of Hecate's artikel-artikel (Caesar Salad) she brought up a good point. What if the gods are like a coin. sejak that I mean they have two sides atau personalities. One is dominant and the other fights for power over the person. Maybe, just maybe Hera is having an internal power struggle with Juno. Juno is lebih war like than Hera, and in (Roman) mythology she is often depicted in battle armor. I think it would be plausible for the other gods to cut off her powers to hold Juno at bay and keep her from taking over, because Juno would likely threaten the Greek Pantheon. Or, maybe Hera is restricting her powers on her own to keep Juno away. Another theory about the inner power struggle is that the lebih power Juno gains the less power Hera has at her disposal, effectively limiting (restricting) her powers.
Power Struggle
So, you've heard the whole Juno-takes-over-Hera stuff, but what if it's not just her? What if it's happening to all of the Greek gods and goddesses?! Prehaps the Romans are choosing now to attempt to replace the Greeks permenently...again....If this is really what's happening then maybe Juno is lebih advanced in her takeover and/or her "war goddess" thing is a little lebih threatening to the Greeks than the other Roman gods. That would give another reason for Hera's powers to be restricted.
Now, we've talked about reasons why Hera's powers have been restricted, lets talk about the demigod assistance part. Why does she need to send our new lovable trio out on a quest?
Percy Saving Time
If the gods think that Hera is behind Percy's dissappearence, then it stands to reason that she'd do anything to get him back...not because she likes him atau anything, but because she wants her powers back. There's only one way I can seem to make this theory work, though, and I really don't like it. It makes Zeus, Poseidon, Athena, and company sound like sadistic, evil gods. Why? Well Jason, Leo, and Piper have a deadline (four days of questing.) Why would time be a big factor? The answer: Hera is going to loose something if she doesn't have Percy back safely at camp sejak the Winter Solstice. Now, this is the part that would make the Olympians seem like big meanies...I think that if this is the right theory, there are only two things that Hera really cares about : Her powerful position (of course) and her marriage. If she doesn't have Percy back she may lose her powers and/or be exhiled for a few centuries like Dionysus atau Zeus may say that he wants a divorce...that'd ruin her perfect family, wouldn't it? Let's hope that the camp won't be recieving a new director.
Two sides of a coin
So we discussed the Juno takeover as a major possibility in the issues department. If we go with that theory, then Hera might need our new demi's to bring her something that'd stop the perpecahan, berpecah personality disorder thing. Perhaps she will send them after her power symbols (assuming she doesn't have them on her) atau an ancient relic/artifact that would stop Juno in her tracks. One guess for the power symbol would be her diadem because she isn't wearing it in the picture provided of her. So, why the deadline? Maybe the takeover will become lebih volitile atau maybe even permenent if she doesn't get what she needs sejak the Winter Solstice. This theory will also work well with the power struggle pertaining to all of the gods/goddesses. The only thing that would change is that the item atau whatever it is that is needed to stop the Roman invasion would have to be grander and would have to be related to all of the deities.
Now, I know it wasn't much, but that's what I have for anda today. I know you're excited about the series, trust me I am, too, so here's the exact time on how much longer we have to wait: 14 days and just about 2 hours. The book hits shelves on October the 12th. Look out for the seterusnya H of O artikel coming out soon. Until seterusnya time, this is Captain Amph, your favourite Sea Goddess, signing off.
