THE CURSE OF THE OPERA

Three days ago, on the 23rd of June 2013, a crisis to go down in the history of musical theatre occurred. The female lead, Christine Daee, in London's best loved musical, the Phantom of The Opera, was found dead in her hotel room after the magnificent first show's finale. Phillipa Jones, who played the role, had previously been telling the rest of the cast outlandish rumours of a face appearing behind her mirror - as the Phantom did to Christine's in the play.

Distraught, yet convinced the tunjuk must go on, the director (who will remain unnamed) forced her understudy to...

This was written for the Featuring Luciana challenge. The challenge: Write a oneshot story describing Luciana's thoughs on Erik, shortly before her death.

“I want anda to take off the mask. Please take off the mask.”

I am standing in front of Erik, begging him to remove the mask that hides his face from me. I want to know his face, to see him.

“You must excuse me, mademoiselle. I have work to finish.”

The nerve of him! “I will not excuse you! anda don’t have work to finish! I want anda to take off...

I was watching the silent Lon Chaney version of "The Phantom of the Opera" earlier on TCM, and I began to do some pondering about the many Phantom movies.

When someone thinks of The Phantom of the Opera, often there are two iconic imej that will come to mind. One is the famous unmasking of Lon Chaney, rightfully recognized as one of the very iconic imej of not only horror, but of cinema itself. His face makeup is taken from the original novel's huraian of Erik, as someone with a horrible deformity from birth that gives him a terrifying corpse-like appearance.

The saat iconic image...

Hi everyone, it's been coming to 9 years since I watched the musical in Singapore. I have always want to write this review of the stage version since I had did a comparison on both the movie and stage version!

The Staging

I was stunned sejak the staging because it was such a spectacular, colourful and whimsical, I also like how each scenes represent dark & light throughout the musical. It was like bringing the realism of what it's like of Palais de Garnier, on which the story is set.
One of my major disappointments was that I did not sit in front where the dramatic chandelier came crashing...

I have seen T.P.O.T.O many times, and most of them have been the 25th anniversary performance. This performance is by-far my favorite. Ramin Kariloo is the BEST Phantom I have ever seen. Sierra Boggess is also the best Christine. Hadley Fraser is one of the best Raoul's I have seen. Even Meg and Madame Giry were fantastic. Carlotta was probably my least kegemaran actress. I enjoyed this performance so much better because the actors seemed like they were literally their characters. I hope anda enjoyed this and anda can watch the entire performance on youtube. Thanks!

There are various interpretations of why the old Raoul brings the monkey Muzik box to her grave and some even think that all the old Raoul parts of the movie are completely useless. However, I'm one of those who believe that while the film would've worked perfectly well even without Raoul travelling anywhere with the Muzik box, all the old Raoul clips are perhaps the most essential aspect of the entire film's basic point. I think they are the ultimate aspect that drastically differs the film from the stage play.

A monkey symbolizes many things that are strongly related to the story. Essential...

Carlotta is writen as a horrid character. She tells rumors and plans schemes to eliminate christine as her competition. I think what is often overlooked is that Carlotta is one of the so many victims of the book. From what is written anda can tell that Carlotta was extremely talented as an opera singer as the book mentions how perfect an instrument her voice was. She had the misfortune to be ill and be replaced sejak someone far lebih loved and adored than herself, that in itself is enough to make anyone mad, take a hari of sick and your job isnt waiting for anda when anda get back. Not only was she...

It is no secret that I'm not fond of Cinta Never Dies. I don't like the idea of ALW making a sequel to a tunjuk that had no need of one, I don't like the fact that although a good portion of the Muzik (while fairly pretty) has been recycled atau pinched from other sources while Wee Andy brags about how it's the best thing he's ever done and it's SO original, and I especially am appalled sejak what has been done to the characters. However, as it exists and it is impossible to avoid it in the fandom atau erase it from my memory, I have decided that I must analyze it and try to figure out just what in the...

The Haunted Mansion ride at Disney has always been one of my favourite things, and Phantom tops the senarai at #1 fave thing. And a while back I started noticing really heavy similarities between the two things and I found many of them interesting. I thought I would share these observations here, so that others might enjoy the coincidences, atau homages if you'd care to take it that way.

We will begin in the Foyer. Above the fireplace hangs a portrait where a young gentleman (presumably Master Gracey) hangs. It is here that the unseen guide for the attraction first makes his presence known.

All right.

So Tumblr has been crazy with this in the last few weeks since Sierra Boggess has left the Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera on September 6th. A rather short run, so to say: she did start only on May 14th…

I wasn’t going to write anything about this at first. But now, rumor has it Sierra Boggess has stated that her 2014 run in Broadway was going to be the last time she would play Christine.

Cough cough.

Ha.

Of course.

Bullshit. Bullshit bullshit bullshit bullshit bullshit. BULLSHIT.

Everyone knows Sierra is Cameron Mackintosh’s and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s darling....

bahagian, atas 10 reasons for why Erik/Christine doesn’t work.

Yes, I know I was supposed to siarkan my Cinta Never Dies rant before, but… this is really to help me write it.

So, short story. Before coming on Fanfiction, I already knew that almost everyone on Earth were E/C shippers. But I was still shocked of seeing the ridiculous number of E/C authors, especially that there are very good ones among them. Now, I’m not being rude, it’s okay to like the E/C pairing (I guess…), but I’m just being really honest. I remember, when I entered the phandom, I was a mild R/C shipper (You know, “I prefer...

I have compiled a senarai of all the phantom films ever made for phans who have only seen the 2004 version. atau at least the major ones. Philm titles from Wikipedia, but all the info I wrote, and have gathered from research and listening to the Phantom Reviewer. I'll put the pautan (so its similar to the a/v club. Though anda can find them all online, so I'm not really giving anda anything hard to find). I just like to make it easier for people, since some seem so lazy to go look for it themselves, atau only seem to see Gerard Butler as the ONLY Phantom. I've seen every version on this list, save for...

Well firstly, I'd like to say that I watched the Australian Cast Recording (not being lucky enough to see it in life) and the staging/costumes/set were superb! Really, in some scenes I felt as if I were looking at a real bar/circus/etc that one might go into on a weekend quite casually.
The Singing was equally wonderful from most parties - I particularly enjoyed Ben Lewis as the Phantom, the Berlakon mostly on the same level. However, I much prefer the songs of the original Phantom of the Opera.
And now for the plot. Christine, now married to the suddenly pahit Raoul, and with a musically talented...

My Brutally Honest and Possibly Offensive Review of the 2004 Movie

I’m sitting utama sick from school with absolutely nothing better to do than write my (well, just read the title) review of the 2004 movie The Phantom of the Opera. Gerry phans and Patrick Wilson phans…I’d consider not Membaca this. So, here I am: putting Phantom in my DVD player and beginning to write down my Rawak thoughts and reactions about it. anda can be assured that it will be disorganized, random, completely honest, offensive, and a little inappropriate (just like me).

I finally found the original sumber of these (I think). link These are the casting calls for "Love Never Dies":

Phantom:
Caucasian man, 35 – 40. As mysterious as ever, but thanks to his new surroundings and the private assistance of old supporters, he now enjoys the seeming freedom to walk among “the normal” as an entrepreneur in Coney Island, of all places! In fact, over the past 10 years, he’s achieved a place of power and success. But he is haunted sejak a creative passion that once filled his heart. Must possess effortless gravitas and sexuality. Powerful rock tenor Singing voice. Must...

A review of the libretto for Andrew Lloyd Webber's

the Phantom of the Opera in comparison with the

soundtrack for the tunjuk Cinta Never Dies. It is my

intention to go through the original script page

by page, making notations of all of the places

contradictions are apparent.

Right off the bat there is a rather

glaring error. In the libretto the stage

directions state that the auction at the beginning

of the tunjuk is taking place in 1905. This is

rather interesting as LND is set in 1907. Even

disregarding the tahun as written, the auctioneer

points out that the old chandelier...

After the mirror was smashed and the phantom walked through it, everyone thought he was dead. When they finally thought it was selamat, peti deposit keselamatan enough, the torture began. People were leaving and never coming back because of, "Some blasted screeching and wailing!" the ownership was changed lebih than eight times, due to the "Dark shadow man" who terrorized the actors. the opera house struggled to stay alive, until it finally shut down when, according to a surviving actor, "the chandelier caught fire, but nothing else did, and the api, kebakaran wasn't able to be put out." Many people believe it was the phantom, but, if it WASN'T him, then who was it?

Somewhat good news, well i guess it depends on how anda look at it. But before i begin to ramble, here it is. I was on YouTube talking to someone when i decided to check out my subscriptions and decided to check out a new phantomreviewer video. well, im not sure if i have all my notes in the right place but it sounds like there will be a new phantom tunjuk production. its simply named phantom (of what i kno) and the phantom has a kick keldai mask that looks like he came back from a heavy metal concert. i like it! if u want to check it out, heres the link. if it ever comes on tour, i mite do my best to see it *optimistic look*

I am SO unimpressed with the movie version deformity.

This is one of those reviews that you'll probably want to haul out the video and read along so anda don't get lost. It will be Rawak and disjointed. I'm just Penulisan what I'm thinking as I think it. This is probably also going to offend....oh, well...just about everyone. This is my personal opinion. anda are entitled to yours, I just may not take it too seriously if anda cannot back up your reasoning. There are only so many things anda can use "well I just like it/hate it" as an excuse. I've been a phan for a LONG time and I've studied the story fairly hardcore. I know EXACTLY why I have most...
