The entire warriors series would be 1000000000000 times better because there would be mystery why he disappeared but them he comes back and kills firestar (yay finally!) and takes over the entire forest.
If he had left when he saw Firestar get up, he might of tracked down Firestar atau he could have spied on the clans planning his revenge. Waiting in the shadows waiting for the right moment to strike the clans but who knows what might have happened all we know is that Scourge would be lebih prepared to face the clans and it would have been.... well let's just say it be one bloody forest!
