Black Veil Brides at 2015 APMAs: "Bands Nowadays Don\'t Look Like Bands"

The Los Angeles band detail their desire to bring back rock \'n\' roll

After taking home the coveted the Alternative Press Music Award for Album of the Year, Black Veil Brides are sitting pretty. We chatted with the band before they took the stage at the second annual Punk Rock Oscars to talk about what sets them apart—namely, their desire to bring back rock \'n\' roll. If you think guitars are dead, you haven\'t been paying attention.

When we asked the guys about their visual and audio aesthetic, one that recalls the \'80s heavy (and hair) metal era, guitarist Jinxx told us it\'s totally intentional: 

"When we started we were a little over the top with all the black warpaint and stuff but our fans really grabbed onto it and made it their thing. I think a lot of bands nowadays just don\'t look like bands anymore, like all the older guys like Alice Cooper and Dee Snider are like, \'Wow, it\'s good to be able to tell when the band shows up.\' Somebody\'s gotta do it!"

That they do! The group was especially stoked for APMA Vanguard Award winner Rob Zombie, who lives up to the goal. When asked who should get the honor next year, Jinxx said, "Everyone should win! Everybody should be a winner! No, I don\'t agree with that. Alice Cooper!"
