Why Damon really want the cure FOR Elena's sake

Sorry but I STILL don't think he is "wrong" for trying to give Elena the cure even if she doesn't "want" it

Then again I *barely* think he was “wrong” for similarly giving her vampire blood (yes, he was wrong. But barely to me. lol)

Hell maybe my morals are skewed but when anda Cinta someone and anda KNOW they are either A) going to die atau B) going to do something that will affect them in an extremely negative way for the rest of their lives….honestly, I wouldn’t care if they want it atau not. I’m sorry I know everyone’s like “rah rah liberated Elena!” but she is NOT liberated. She is under the influence of her own vampirism. This is not liberated Elena because this is not truly completely Elena. Yes this is a part of Elena. It is Elena. But it’s not truly completely her.

It’s like saying that crazy hunter psycho Alaric was “liberated” and that he could do whatever he wanted, and that they should sit back and let Ric kill all of his Friends and the people he cared about because he “wants” to. This is really NO different. Because guess what - he wouldn’t have wanted that. That was Ric but only a PART of Ric.

Everyone was screaming to “fix” Elena when she first turned, but turning into a vampire doesn’t completely MUTE the parts of yourself that make anda who anda are. It enhances them, skews them a bit yes. But anda are still you. Similarly to how different things in life can CHANGE a person for the better atau worse, but anda are still you. But life doesn’t completely shut off parts of a person - unless you’re under the influence of something obviously. It doesn’t completely take away a part of yourself that makes up so much of your personality.

Damon and Stefan know all of this first hand. They’ve been there. Damon is trying to use all that struggling he’s been going through since season 1 to help her. And he knows, once she turns that switch on, which she will - she is going to go through a hell of a lot of crap she wouldn’t have otherwise if Damon and Stefan didn’t give her the help she didn’t want. Not only is Elena still a teenager but she is a newbie vampire. Not saying Damon and Stefan are supposed to be her parents but they Cinta her. This means they want to look out for her. And they are both like 200 years old, they are going to know a thing atau two about the vampire switch. Yes, in this case, both of them know better, and the Elena they knew like 2 episodes lalu would have NOT approved of them sitting back and watching her do something like…ohhh I don’t know, trying to kill her best friend…and not do a thing about it.

Damon is completely in the right with this one. Completely. I’d be mad if he didn’t do whatever he could to get her to turn it back on. He knows turning it off is only a quick fix that if taken too far…will only make lebih problems.

panther-jewel Thank you for posting this here! I really agree with that! A whole part of Elena is missing now, and her compassion was always an important aspect of her character; I like the comparison with evil Alaric in this case. Most of us prefer Elena as a vampire, and I hope that she can keep the strength and the honesty that she regained, but in a friendlier way. But Damon, Stefan and the others can only rely on what Elena said when she was still complete. And Damon doesn't want Elena to take the cure (because he expects to lose her then), but she always wanted that before, so that it is selfless and right of him to continue the quest that they started together, although I hope that it doesn't come down to physically forcing the cure on Elena. You should all really read what JanaP found and wrote down under a post of loveofdelena on the Damon and Elena wall a few days ago about this matter.

loveofdelena amen!! finally someone who gets it!! i really don't understand all this bitching about damon "forcing" the cure on elena. he loves her like crazy, and right now, she is one seriously fucked up vamp. what do they expect him to do, stand back and watch in despair while the love of his life sinks even deeper into the darkness?? i don't think so. he would really be selfish then! look, weather you like it or not, sometimes you just have to be cruel to be kind. and that is clearly the case here. iwhy can't elena see that he is trying with everythng in him to save her life, just like he did when he forced his blood on her in season two. what damon did was NEVER an act of selfishness, it was an act of pure desperation and it's as simple as that. i can't undrstand all this criticizm towards him, they are hating on him for doing what any worried man or woman would have done for his/her lover. look im all for elena being a strong and confident young woman, thats all fine, but she already had that when she was the humian vamp, so why should she want to remain this way, i think she 's got it in her head he is trying to do a stefan and "fix" her. when we all know that that is not what he is doing at all. he doesn't want to fix her, he wants to save her. there is a HUGE difference. she needs too listen to damon, he is right when he says that if she continues to be this way, she will become evil, and in the end she will regret it greatly when her humanity returns.

loveofdelena i don't mind elena being all bitchy, but only to those who deserve it.

panther-jewel Damon mentioned forcing the cure on Elena in a spontanious statement during an emotional moment, and we know how he behaves in those, but he at least honestly told her that to her face. But like I already said, I hope that there will be another way. And perhaps, Elena really changed her mind and wants to stay a vampire now that Jeremy is dead, now that she has control over her blood-thirst and now that she got a restlessly rational look on everything, but nobody can know that; she needs to say that with her humanity being turned on. The others have to listen to what she wants when she is complete, what is not the case now, and her loved ones only want to spare her from being destroyed by guilt when she will get her humanity back - what will happen at some point. Elena was still the same after she turned, only with all of her characteristics stronger, but NOT different, and I very often still had her as a human in my mind, until she used her supernatural powers or spoke about her blood-thirst. But after she got feeding under control - thanks to Damon -, there was no difference in Elena, except that she was maturer, happier and more alive, and if she can keep that, I see it like Damon and am "fine with her either way". Because Elena should keep her maturity and continue to stand in for her wishes and feelings, for what she wants and who she wants, but she also needs her loyalty and her compassion to be whole (no matter what kind of being she is).
