‘Daredevil’ Netflix Series Season 2 Premiering in 2016
Eleven days after premiering on Netflix, Marvel’s
TV series has not only won critical and fan acclaim – it’s apparently had enough viewership for Marvel and Netflix to renew the series for season 2. And while it’s not surprising to hear that the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen will have his saga continue, it is surprising to hear how
Netflix made the official announcement via press release:
Netflix is confirming a second season of Marvel’s Daredevil that will premiere in 2016.
Doug Petrie (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, American Horror Story) and Marco Ramirez (Sons of Anarchy), who worked closely with Steven DeKnight and Drew Goddard, will serve as show runners for season two.
Ramirez, Petrie, Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods) and Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) are executive producers.

Blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) fights against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the Super Hero “Daredevil” in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York Cit. Marvel’s Daredevil stars Charlie Cox, Rosario Dawson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Scott Glenn, Bob Gunton, Toby Leonard Moore, Vondie Curtis Hall, Ayelet Zurer.
concluded season 1 by having The Man Without Fear finally donning his full red costume to take down the fugitive Wilson Fisk, whom he’d already put in handcuffs by way of the law as Matt Murdock. However, even though the vigilante got his man, the ramifications of his quest are still reverberating throughout his world – possibly into the larger MCU.
Episodes like “Stick” (and Wilson Fisk’s criminal relations) showed us that there is a deeper mythos behind Daredevil’s training as a blind warrior – one that could involve mystical orders and ninjas. Then there’s the small matter of Wilson Fisk, still sitting in his cell; anyone who is a big fan of Daredevil comics knows just how badly The Kingpin can dismantle Daredevil (and Matt Murdock’s) life, given the proper motivation.
There is also some rich mythos to explore so far as characters like Foggy and Karen are concerned; new villains like Bullseye or love interest like Elektra to introduce; and other MCU characters who can join in the fun.
season 2 announcement is that the show will return as soon as 2016. Marvel Netflix has three other shows on the way:
Iron Fist, both of which were expected in 2016; and a
At this point, there is little reason to expect that Marvel can’t continue with its
on top of that. Even without Netflix reporting official numbers, it’s not hard to tell from public reaction that the show is a hit. Marvel is also upping its output starting in 2016 with its “Phase 3″ movie initiative; there’s talk of an
spinoff series for network TV (and maybe an entirely new network show as well).
Clearly Marvel is expanding its universe on all fronts – and Netflix is no exception.
season 2 will also premiere in 2016; and

I would have rather not having a second season, and rather wait on each series to debut. Then maybe season 2 would be tandem like Iron Fist and Dare Devil Or Luke Cage and Iron Fist.
I don’t know why anyone would expect that to be the case. It’s not how television production works.
Great show, really enjoyed watching it, can’t wait for the next season.
The 1st season was such a massive surprise. One of the best comics shows ever.
Do NOT lose Steven DeKnight and Drew Goddard. Why aren’t they showrunners?!?!?!?!
Probably bigger and brighter things. Goddard still involved with Spidey and DeKnight probably being moved to other developing projects.
They probably signed on under the assumption it would only be one season, so have taken on other commitments.
Show is completely over the top, cliche, and full on bad acting. It seems to me as if all the scores were bought out, IMBD has 9.3?!!?! Foggys acting is terrible, feels forced and un-natural (see episode in which he mourns a loss of another character)
I understand this is a comic book screen adaptation but it is utterly unreal how the main character gets stabbed, punched, choked, beat for minutes on yet somehow manages to escape and or win the fight…there is a level of ridicolous power one can take, unless its Superman, or Goku we’re talking about, this sort of abuse would definetly lead to death…Bearing in mind everything else in the world is rather normal except his senses and body healing?
Kingpin character is as linear as one can get…evil…but good…not his fault…yes it’s a comic book plot but jesus is this predictable….
Foggy – Don’t understand how he received the role, worst acting i’ve seen in a long time
Murdoch – Acting is fine, can’t say anything bad about it
In general really all other actors feel like they’re pressured into acting “good” under a knife or else…can’t stress enough how poor the acting is.
Venessa seems to have some acting skill, granted she only said a combined of 2 paragraphs total (i’m on episode 10) but i’ll give her the benefit of the doubt.
Overall horrible show, terribly unrealistic, very dull acting, story line is very predictable to a point that my girlfriend which never read the comics, or sactually heard of Daredevil is predicting what will happening in each episode.
Pathetic attempt at a show…utter waste of Netlix money.
Troll level 3000. haha get outta here
I disagree with you about how “it’s a waste of money” but I can’t agree more about Foggy. The acting on Daredevil is great but then when the camera turns towards Foggy, things go downhill. The guy’s acting is so corny and phony.
Omg I feel the same way. I love the show but his acting is so bad and cheesy. He’s not emotionally invested giving his lines, and it’s really noticeable. Especially so in the scenes after Elena died.
Marvel done messed up now. All four shows should have premiered THIS year, with a Winter Defenders wrap up. Then start Season 2 of all shows after that and have them appear in Infinity Wars Part 1, then Defenders Season 2. After that, go with Season 3 of all shows, then Infinity Wars Part 2, and then Defenders Season 3. Get on the ball Marvel, and have those other shows (Luke Cage and Iron Fist) start filming.
I agree100%. Marvel needs to accelerate it’s schedule and complete the last 3 shows no later than spring 2016! DEFENDERS complete filming in late summer, early fall 2016. Move 2nd season of DD to Spring 2017 unfortunately. Just my opinion.
Also, didn’t like the Daredevil costume at the end. The masked outfit was better. They could definitely improve on the costume. Hope that is just version 1.0 and he finds a better tailor.
NO ELEKTRA, please!!!! Matt had much better love interest before her…. One of which who is sitting over in Avenger Towers… Daredevil and the Black Widow were a much better team up, and Matt and Natasha were a much better couple… The besides bring in Daredevil enemies, you can add the Black Windows, which would be ridiculous in an Avengers movie… We can also learn more of her MCU back story. eve have Hawkeye guest star…. All the non-super powered heroes need more screen time together.
Oh no. No no no. That’s a very, very bad idea. This could go so horribly wrong. And given the history of how this business model has fared in the past, as well as Marvel’s recent track record, it most likely will.
I really do want a second season, but I’d have hoped for it to come after The Defenders, with enough time to develop it properly.
I never was a big comic book fan but I love the super hero movies. The comic books were my brothers. I watched the entire season in an episode marathon. I was actually sad that there was not already a Season 2, but it was probably best since I did need sleep
I can’t wait for Season 2 and I am happy there will be one. I just thought maybe someone out there should know it has broad appeal.
This was the BEST thing tHat Netflix has put out yet! Seriously, the 2003 Ben ‘Daredevil,’ put such a bad taste in my mouth that I never thought I could care about “The Man With No Fear.’. I was wrong, Marvel and Netflix made me a believer! Praise the Gods!!!
Also actor Charlie Cox did a brilliant job portraying Matt Murdock.
Netflix has a lot of good shows coming out of their studio. I’ll just watch of all them.
