Obama's plan to change the acceptance of gay troops in the military has caused quite an uproar in the Netherlands as well. Not because of the plan itself, officially the Dutch troops have no problem whatsoever with gays, but because of what US general John Sheenan said in a hearing considering this plan.

According to him, the fall of the muslim enclave Srebrenica in 1995 was because of the gay people among the Dutch troops.
Srebrenica is not the finest moment in the history of our troops and despite many investigations by the UN, the EU and the Dutch government there is still no clarity about how the Srebrenica safe could fall, resulting in the worst European massacre since the Second World War.

Clearly things went very wrong there, however this has, ofcourse, nothing to do with the fact that the Dutch army allows homosexuals in their ranks.

/End rant.

I think that sort of claim is offensive not ONLY to the Dutch, but to the gays as well, Sappp. I didn't know about that, thanks.
