I'm pretty tired of modern-sounding voices honestly. It's one thing to do it occasionally but they seem to prefer it in all their characters.

She's Hawaiian and Puerto Rican.... Not Polynesian. Why couldn't they find an actress who was actually Polynesian? They should've made her a Hawaiian princess instead of ancient Polynesian.

I am very satisfied with their choice, Auli'i is wonderful for the role (and she and Moana look so much alike!) As for her "modern-sounding voice", I sort of agree with AudreyFreak but it's almost certain that Disney is not going back to the classical voices we all loved, so there's no point in complaining about that.

@324anna: I think you're correct. Disney is not going to go back to a "Classical-sounding princess," just like they're not going to go back to doing 2D animation...so we're just going to have to accept that some "changes" are going to be permanent. But we can still love the old, gorgeous 2D animation movies, even if we will only see 3D nowadays.

As long as Auli'i can hit her notes properly, and does not "force" and scream them ( like Idina Menzel did), she should be fine to my eardrums.

She's so cute and I'm very happy for her! It's nice that she's a teenager, close to the age of her princess.
