So I would love to message back and forth (through the inbox) with someone some of my thoughts on what Elsa and Anna would think of the princesses, like I've been doing with wavesurf and still will continue to do. Just like to have more than one perspective.

If not, you're welcome to comment here who you think Anna and Elsa would like and dislike.

^we have a lot of disagreements, let me just say that. the people who claim elsa for being passive are outside of the movie, who elsa is unaware of ."She would find PATF's overly preachy message about hard work and responsibility to be victim-blamey" not really sure about that, considering that elsa takes responsibility and duty very seriously, and is a very practical and grounded person herself. I think she would totally agree with tiana's message of focusing on hardwork and NOT wishing on stars ..I mean, this is the woman who said "you can't marry a man you just met." And she would understand Tiana having to fight through stereotypes.


I really can't see Elsa liking Ariel. Ariel is literally everything that Elsa is against- she shirks responsibility, runs out on her father without telling him (elsa was really loyal to her father) and literally falls in love with a man she just LOOKS at, hasn't even MET. I agree she has a sense of fun too-- that's why I can see Elsa loving Rapunzel, who ALSO has powers and is ostracized and oppressed for them-- but there's a limit, because Elsa also is practical and responsible.

I don't think Cinderella would be her FAVORITE, but I think she would be definitely in her top 5 for sure. Not really sure how blue aesthetics is relevant to someone's favorite list lol.
I do have some idea on who would be Elsa's favorite but you will see when I publish the article:)

maybe--I see ariel as reminding elsa of the anna that elsa didn't want anna to become. to me, Rapunzel is a closer match to anna. I think you are viewing Elsa as if she is still the overwhelming anxiety ridden elsa. I am viewing elsa at the end of the movie, where yes she still has anxieties and fear, but she has now learned to manage them. "TPATF painting as every character who isn't Tiana as lazy even when some of the characters may not be lazy but just hard working in their own way, not necessarily in an obvious way. " <--I don't really agree with this, in fact I think the movie paints Tiana as being TOO wrapped up in work and not having fun (which is why they stuck her with Naveen), which I think elsa would relate to in spades. in fact now I am more convinced that elsa would like tiana.

I wrote these a few years ago back when I liked Frozen better, with some help for Elsa's but Anna's I feel a bit less sure about. Here's my ranking though:

Now I might move Tiana higher and switch Aurora with Cinderella, but all the others I go help from agreed Aurora would be her #1.

I think Elsa would value responsibility and like the elegant princesses. I think she'd actually appreciate Merida's fixing her mistake but otherwise she might not connect with her. Anna would value family and not giving up on people (which is why I think she might take issue with Merida and Rapunzel) but like fun, free spirited princesses.

I also agree with you about Merida. I think people may be quick to say she would dislike Merida but I think she would appreciate that she didn't want to be in an arranged marriage, that she lets herself be free, etc etc

Elsa's fav Princess list:

1. Cinderella

Elsa would love more matured princesses (doesn't necessarily have to be serious) and values responsibilities and loyalty.
I guess Cinderella would be her most favorite as she would relate, respect and appreciate how she survive from abusive treatment and suffer life, she would admire her for her emotional strength.
She have a lot of common with Aurora. Both are elegant and graceful, judged to be passive and never did anything, and both are responsible enough.
I put Mulan as one of her fav, she have the same feel with her about live up with expectations from society and being fail to fulfil it.
She also seems to likes Belle, as both are outcast and she would agree with some of Belle's point of view.
She would think Snow is a sweet person, somehow reminds her with her sister.

I don't think Elsa would dislike Tiana, like the comments above. Disnerdtobe has some points, but I think at least she would appreciate her being caring to her family.
Rebellious and outspoken princesses would be her least favorites (bottom 3), I don't think she would identify with any of them. Especially Ariel, she is a total opposite with Elsa.

Her list is a total opposite with her sister's. Sweet, cheerful, fun, quirky, and hopeless romantic princesses are her favorites. I think she would identify with Ariel for the most, as both are very expressive and dreams to marry with true love.
She would think Snow White and Rapunzel are very fun to get along with.
She also respect Belle's selflessness and loyalty, and relate to Jasmine as how they both are trapped in their own castle and wanting to have free life.

The bottom 3 (Mulan, Poca, Tiana) are way too serious for her. Although I think at least she would respect Mulan's loyalty and Poca somehow has sense of fun. She has zero in common with Tiana of course.

Anna's list:

1. Rapunzel : they really have a lot in common. Mostly the energy, the impulse and deep rooted need for love and belongingness. Optimism towards life.
2. Snow: chirpy, witty, resilient from hurt and betrayal, optimism about life. Understanding others more than herself.
3/4 Ariel/Merida: for love of exploring, not wanting to be limited in any form. Anna would also appreciate how both of them enjoys being herself without any validation needed from anyone else. Anna could also see that it's not necessary to be loved by your parents/siblings/love interest to feel worthy.
5/6. Cinderella/Belle: she would like someone mature and selfless as an elder sister, who for a change, would love to take care of Anna, shower her with love and care, have genuine heart to heart conversations without any secrets.
7. Jasmine
8. Aurora
9. Tiana
10. Pocahontas
11. Mulan

not really sure about the last 5 but feels like they have least in common with Anna.
