The other four are my top 4 most relatable princesses, Ariel isn't even my #5 but #8 or #9.
Belle: like Belle, I am imaginative, distracted, dreamy and every person I know thinks I am odd.
Jasmine: my most relatable DP, I guess. We are both sassy, somewhat aggressive, judgmental, opinionated, we both have quite pessimistic view on people and not willing to give them second chance( I mean that Jasmine didn't attempt to find anything good about her suitors).
Pocahontas: we are both deep thinkers, very philosophical and have a strong connection with our homelands, elders and people and don't prioritize romance.
Mulan: we are both attached to our elders, deeply care about health and afraid to lose them, we are both ambitious and want positive attention.

Renessaince DPs is my most relatable group of DPs( with classics being the least relatable ones) but Ariel is the exception. All we have in common is stubborness.

I think Merida is just as realistic as Ariel or Mulan if not more, people just don't like to think they'd ever do something terrible in a furious emotional state.

^^I truly think Merida is the most realistic DP because she makes actual serious and harmful mistakes. The next closest is Ariel. As long as the other princesses stay so virtuous they will never be realistic to me.

Not putting Merida as #1 doesn't mean not relating to her at all. And doesn't mean considering oneself not selfish. Merida has a lot of personality traits, besides selfishness. She is tomboyish, athletic, adventurous etc and those traits are not so common( Mulan passion for sports wasn't the reason she went to war, she had two reasons to do it and both of them are EXTREMELY relatable for me).
Not to mention that a lot of users put Merida higher than some less flawed DPs. Including me.
Having flaws doesn't equal having the same flaws as Merida or Ariel. Your flaws can be exaggerated version of flaws of some more virtuous DP.

I don't think we have anything in common, apart from being curious. Ariel's a lot more outgoing and daring than I am, and unlike her I'm very close to my family and always tried to please my parents.

We are curious and determined. I also like to explore and I can be reckless like her. BUT! She is a way too selfish, just less selfish than Merida. I follow my own instincts, ethics and virtues than my own wants. I am cynical and won't trust a sea witch. Ariel forgets her talents, abandons her home, has her father almost killed and her kingdom imprisoned for a guy and to watch why fires burn. I LOVE Ariel very much but I'm a little different than her

I'm not a boring snooty know-it-all that can't put down a book and talk to a person, I think I'm even more of an Ariel type than a Belle type, I'm not particularly introverted like Mulan either. I'd say the last two princesses voted out I relate to more than Belle.
