How is it that some vamps turn out with a conscience and others are rogue?

When Louis and Claudia are looking for others of their kind they find a rogue somewhere in Europe, cann't remember where. I was wondering how is it that some Vampires turn out like Louis and Lestat with a conscience etc and others are complete Haiwan like the rogues.

I think it has a lot to do with the kind of person anda were before they were changed and Vampires have a minnd of there own so they choose to be the way they want to be. Only your body dies when anda are changed into a vampire not your mind...over centuries your your memories will fade but if anda live a certain way for a long time(Example:with a conscience, the moral way) anda will continue to do so.
