A couple of months passed, and one day, Erin, Paul and Carl got invited to a party sejak their classmate, Lola. Lola had spoken to them some after class, and she seemed nice enough. Still, something was odd to them. Carl said, "I'm curious. Why did she invite us to her party? Isn't she one of the popular girls?" Paul said, "I don't know. It seems like it. I mean, she's always hanging out with the popular girls." Erin said, "Yes, she is. I wonder if this is a scam, atau maybe she's just being nice?" Carl said, "Let's hope she's being nice." On the hari of the party, the three Friends arrived early. Lola said, "Hi, you're a little early. Come on inside." None of the other guests had arrived. Maybe they would pour in at the last minute. When it was time for the party to actually start, no one else showed. Lola said, "I knew it! The popular girls only like me because I help them with their homework." She sat down on the couch. Erin, Paul, and Carl saw past Lola's thick-framed glasses. She had a sadness in her eyes. Erin sat beside her and said, "Lola, if people like anda just because anda help them with their homework, they don't really like you. If they really did like you, they would like anda for you." Lola said, "In that case, nobody likes me." Erin said, "I like you." Lola said, "You do?" Paul said, "Yeah. You've always been nice to us." Lola smiled and said, "Let's have some fun. It's still a party." At one point during the party, Erin, Paul, and Carl spotted a bass. Paul asked, "Do anda play bass, Lola?" She said, "Yeah." Erin said, "We're starting a band, and we haven't found anyone to play bass for us." Lola said, "That sounds perfect. I'd like to be in a band." The seterusnya day, they all met at Carl's. Lola had a great chemistry with the band. She was in. Afterwards, the foursome discussed music. Lola was just as passionate about Muzik as they were. They even had similar tastes. Lola said, "You know, I really like hanging out with anda three. You're all so cool." The only thing missing was a name for the band. They decided to hold off on a name and figure it out later.

One day, I received a call that Gavin was hurt. I went over to his house to see if he was okay. He had a big cut on his face. It was deep, but he didn't need stitches. He has some bruising around the cut as well. I asked, "What happened?" He said, "I was opening the car door, and I accidentally hit myself in the face. I fainted when I saw blood." I said, "I'm sorry. I hope that heals up soon." He said, "I'm sure it will." He was left with a scar on his face. The one good thing about it was that he gained some respect. When I got beat up near the end of the school year,...

One morning, I got up, and I opened my bedroom door. All of my Anjing were sitting there except my husky, Diesel. I thought, "It's not like Diesel to go off sejak himself." I called for him, but he never came. I went downstairs. I looked in the living room and saw him lying on the floor. He wasn't moving. I walked up to him and started talking to him. He didn't respond. I knelt down beside of my beloved dog to check for signs of life, nothing. I fell on bahagian, atas of him and cried. I said, "Diesel, please don't be dead! You've been my buddy for twelve years! anda can't die!" I told...

Sometime later in the school year, Gavin's father and mother went on a business trip. Gavin stayed with me and my aunt and uncle for the week. It worked out, because Gavin and I go to school together, and his dog got along with my dogs. That Monday, our school hari started out well. Sometime after lunch, some of our schools mates shoved us in the janitor's closet and locked us in there. It was really dark, and I got really scared. I was on the verge of having a panic attack. Gavin said, "We'll be okay. Someone will find us soon." I calmed down some. Not only was it dark...

Spring Break came, and we got a week off from school. One morning, I got up, but then I fell down the stairs. As I tried to get up, I felt a sharp pain in my right knee. I couldn't get up. I cried for help. My aunt ran to me. She asked, "Are anda okay? What happened?" I said, "I fell down the stairs, and my right knee hurts. I can't get up." She helped me up, but I couldn't walk. She said, "I need to get anda to the hospital." I had to wait for a long time at the hospital. I could understand why, considering there was a man who had a hati, tengah-tengah attack there. Still, the fact...

It was Valentine's Day. My Friends and I made Valentine's hari cards for each other. After school, we all met at Jennifer's house to exchange them. I was careful about what I wrote on some of them, because not all of my Friends understand my humor. The only ones who do are Gavin, Jennifer, and William. The card I made for Gavin was a classic example of my humor. On the outside, I wrote, "It's Valentine's Day. I got anda a card." On the inside, I wrote, "This is the inside of it." Gavin laughed until he cried when he read it. He said, "Oh, Catherine, always funny!" I said,...

One hari in January, it was snowing. I said, "I swear it was warmer at Christmas." Gavin said, "I know. It felt lebih like May than December." Pretty soon, it was getting really cold. I said, "It's colder than I can stand right now. I think we should go back inside." Gavin said, "I agree." As we were going inside, Gavin slipped on a patch of black ice on the driveway. I asked, "Gavin, are anda okay?" He said, "Yeah." He got up, and I noticed that he was limping. I said, "You're hurt." He said, "I'm all right....ow!" I said, "But you're limping." He said, "Maybe I'm not...

Our sophomore tahun was a good tahun for the most part. Gavin and I didn't get bullied much. The few times we did, we usually took up for each other. One day, Gavin was sick, and he couldn't be there to take up for me. Some bullies mocked me and pushed me down the stairs. Jennifer told the bullies off, and William helped me to my feet. He asked, "Are anda okay?" I said, "Yeah, I'm okay." I was a bit upset. When I came home, I put on some Beatles Muzik to make myself feel better. I felt better, and one of my Friends even told me a joke. She said, "What is the difference...

One hari during the summer, I decided to visit with Gavin. When I made it over there, his dog, Oliver, greeted me. I said, "Hi, Oliver! Where's Gavin?" The dog led me to Gavin. Gavin was resting under the pokok in his backyard. I said, "You look comfortable, Gavin." I expected him to say, "I am," but he didn't. Oliver licked his face, but he didn't stir. I thought, "Oh, God! Has he passed out?" I knelt down beside of him and gently shook him. "Gavin!" I cried. "Gavin, are anda okay?!" He opened his eyes and said, "Good morning!" I said, "Gavin, don't scare me like that!...

It was summer, and one day, Gavin came to me crying. I asked, "Are anda okay?" He said, "No." I asked, "What's wrong?" He said, "My grandfather just died." I said, "Gavin, I'm so sorry." I hugged him. He continued to cry. I understood how he felt, since I had Lost Pops less than two years earlier. Despite my fear of heights, I decided to fly to Liverpool with Gavin. His father asked, "Are anda sure anda want to do this?" I said, "Gavin was there for me when Pops died. It's my turn to be there for Gavin." His mother said, "That's very sweet of you, love." On the plane,...

One night, I heard that there was going to be a meteor shower. Bonnie, Gavin, and I went up a bukit that was overlooking the high school, as it was a dark hill. After we saw the meteor shower, we looked down the bukit towards the school. Bonnie said, "Ya know, that school seemed so big when I first started attending it, but looking down on it now, I realize how small it really is." I said, "Really?" She said, "Yeah. It seems like just yesterday when I was a freshman like anda guys. Now I'm just four months away form graduating." Gavin said, "That's crazy. This time next...

It was the last hari of school before Krismas Break. At one point, I noticed that I was having some pain in my right side. Gavin asked, "Catherine, are anda all right?" I said, "Yeah, I'm just fine. Why?" He said, "You're Berlakon like you're hurt." I said, "Oh, I'm just having some pain in my right side. I'm probably bruised from where I slipped and fell on a patch of ice, no big deal." Jennifer overheard me and said, "Look, I'm not a doctor, but anda should definitely go see one." I said, "I think I'll be okay. I'll see what happens tomorrow." The seterusnya day, the pain...

One day, I was visiting with my paternal grandparents. A thunderstorm was approaching as we were getting ready to leave. As I was walking to my aunt and uncle's car, I felt a bolt of lightning hit me. I felt the strike, and the seterusnya thing I knew, I woke up in my uncle's arms. He said, "Holy cow! I thought anda were dead!" I said, "You did?" He said, "Yeah. anda looked dead." My aunt said, "You really did." I said, "That really hurt." My uncle said, "I think we should get anda to a hospital just to be sure you're okay." Thankfully, I only had minor injuries. The doctor...

It was our first hari of high school. Gavin and I were quite nervous, to be honest. The hari started out badly. I heard someone make fun of Gavin's accent. The bully asked, "What's up with the cheesy accent?" Gavin replied, "I'm from England, Liverpool, to be exact." The bully said, "Oh, you're from that town where those insects are from. That explains your trashy haircut. anda should be beaten for that." I walked up to the bully and said, "If anda hurt Gavin, anda better make plans for me to hurt you." The bully ran in fear and never bothered us again. Later, I got punched...

I was reluctant to include the eighth grade in the story. There weren't too many good things that happened that year. The only good things that happened that tahun were a couple of new Friends that I made and the fact that I made straight A's. Everything else that happened was bad. The worst thing that happened that tahun was the death of my maternal grandfather. Although my mother died in childbirth, her parents still wanted to have a relationship with me. I was close to Pops, (that's what I called him). I did at times think he needed to be knocked off of his pompous...

One day, in the seventh grade, I noticed some kids threatening to beat Gavin. I came up to the bullies and said, "Don't beat up my friend. If anda want to beat up someone, do it to me." Gavin said, "Catherine, no! What are anda doing?!" I said, "I'd rather it be me than you!" The bullies began beating on me. Gavin begged the bullies to stop, but his pleas fell on deaf ears. I was outnumbered, so I couldn't fight back. Gavin tried to physically get them off of me, but he was unsuccessful. I said, "Gavin, get out of here! They'll get you, too!" Gavin said, "Hold on, Catherine!...

Christmas Vacation was officially over, and we were back in school. Gavin and I were heading to our seterusnya class, and we saw someone being bullied. A group of kids punched a girl in the face, and she fell to the ground. Gavin said, "Come on, Catherine! Let's get those bullies away from her." I said, "I'm right behind you! I can't just stand and watch someone get bullied." We approached the bullies, and Gavin said, "Back off! I've got crutches, and I'm not afraid to use them!" The bullies walked away. I helped the girl to her feet and asked, "Are anda okay?" She said, "Yeah....

A couple of months passed, and Gavin and I became really, really close, but one day, there was something in the air. Whatever it was, Gavin and I got into a horrible argument. I don't remember what we were arguing about, but we berkata some cruel things to each other. I dare not repeat them. I went utama crying. Later, I decided to make up with Gavin. I went across the jalan to his home. His mother answered the door. I said, "I need to talk to Gavin. I want to make up with him." She said, "I'll tell him you're here." A few minit later, she returned and said, "He's gone."...

One October day, it had started out normally. Gavin and I had a really good hari until the last class of the day. We had some free time at the end of the class. There was a girl calling me ugly and deformed. I was upset, but I tried not to tunjuk that she got to me. Gavin came up beside me and said, "Hey! Be nice to her!" The girl asked, "What are anda gonna do? Boys can't hit girls." He said, "I know, but if they could, you'd be the first one I'd hit." She said, "But girls can hit boys." He said, "Go ahead! Hit me!" One September day, I had an experience that would change my life. I noticed that some new neighbors were moving in across the street. I said, "Nice accent anda have there!" He said, "Thank you. I'm from Liverpool, England." I said, "Like the Beatles?!" He said, "Yeah. Like the Beatles." My childhood had a rocky start from hari one. My mother was in poor health from the hari she learned she was pregnant with me. Although I turned out to be healthy, my mother died in childbirth. Realizing his own mortality, my father named my aunt and uncle as legal guardians if something were to happen to him. My father and my aunt were siblings. One night, when I was three years old, my aunt was babysitting me, and my father never returned, for he was killed in a car accident. As a result, I ended up living with my aunt and uncle. They never had children, so I was basically...
