\'The Leftovers\' series premiere: The questions we\'re left with

The series premiere for "The Leftovers" definitely opened our hearts and minds up to just what it would be like to be one of the ones left behind.

Possibly one of the most effected citizens of Mapleton, NY is police chief, Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux), who since the sudden departure three years ago, has been struggling to keep his family together. His daughter, Jill (Margaret Qualley) is having trouble adjusting to high school politics and coping without a mother figure. His son, Tom (Chris Zylka) has run off to work for Wayne, who is some sort of healer for the folks who just can\'t get over the trauma that occurred on that October day. To top it all off, Kevin has taken over the chief position, after his father went crazy. 

The entire town of Mapleton is struggling to make sense of the terrible tragedy and everyone copes in their own way. Mayor Lucy Warburton (Amanda Warren) throws herself into work, heading up the remembrance day parade. Meg (Liv Tyler) tries to plan a wedding, while still reeling from great loss. Others, join what appear to be support groups or cults of sorts like the "GR" (Guilty Remnant), to find acceptance.

Still reeling from the explosive series premiere? You are not alone. Here are some of the questions we are left with after episode one.

Who or what are the "GR"? The series premiere leaves a lot to the imagination about the group, who we find out has a rather aggressive recruitment process. Is the goal to stalk potential members into joining? What we do know about the group is they dress completely in white, talking is not permitted, they are peaceful protestors, smoking is totally cool, Kevin\'s wife Laurie (Amy Brenneman) abandoned her family to join the organization, and they are after Meg....big time.

Why did Laurie leave her family? Wouldn\'t the sudden departure make you cling to your family and friends left behind for dear life? So what exactly made Laurie willing to throw it all away?

Is Kevin crazy? He witnesses a rather traumatic event, where a man pulls up out of nowhere and shoots a local dog and becomes completely obsessed. However, when he tells others about the man and the incident, they seem skeptical. Then later, he spots a deer and then wakes up to what appears to be the chaos of the deer running wild in his home. Did he really witness these events or are they all a figment of his imagination?

What is the history between Kevin and Lucy? Tensions run high between the Chief and Mayor in regards to the remembrance parade.  Judging by the heat between the two, there is a lot more going on there that we need to know more about.

What\'s wrong with Meg? Who did Meg lose or what kind of demons is she struggling with and why does she ultimately seek refuge with the "GR"?

"The Leftovers" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
