anda might want to double check with Julie plec, But a dying witch created the Five to kill Vampires and make them human again. The Original Family was never suppose to exist,so the 5 was created to kill vampires, It is lebih of a season 3 thing, if anda want to go into details re-watch season 3 and then watch the 5 again.
