10 - anda vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed sejak other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 - anda feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but anda have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8 - anda laugh at polytheists, but anda have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 - Your face turns purple when anda hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but anda don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the Bayi of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!

6 - anda laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but anda have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.

5 - anda are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but anda find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded sejak Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.

4 - anda believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."

3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince anda otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence anda need to "prove" Christianity.

2 - anda define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. anda consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And anda think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.

1 - anda actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

thetacoman AND if youll remember, Science used to beleive like Christans, too. Since humans CANT know everything, science is always changing.

I can explain which parts of Christianity some of these come from- 3 are I think Jehova's Witnesses (probably wrong) 1 is because most people think that all you need is to go to church to be saved 3 (again)- IF modern science has failed to convince the world to rely on its own logic, despite the fact that it is SOOOO *sarcasam* prevalent, it cant be that convincing.

misanthrope86 You will note that this article, as much I don't think it is written well, is about FUNDSMENTALIST Christians. So the content of this article refers to FUNDAMENTALIST CHRISTIANS, [b][u]NOT[/u] ALL OF CHRISTIANITY[/b]. So this article doesn't judge the masses by the minorities, it judges the general Fundamentalist Christian belief system. The issue about science/christianity and proof is that science must adhere to strict guidelines in order to "prove" its theory, whereas religion employs "proof" that is not subject to the same guidelines. For example, science must perform it's experiments according to certain rules in order for it to be considered a valid experiment, and then in order to "prove" the theory, the results of the experiment must be repeated. For the religious (in general), evidence that proves the existance comes in a different form. For example, the religious arguments that have been presented to me for the existance of God are along the lines of "Because it is the only explanation"and "Because I know in my heart". While I personally accept those reasons as a form of knowledge that amounts to evidence for [i]individuals[/i], we have to acknowledge the vastly different ways in which those "proofs" are gathered, tested and presented. They are completely different, and holding each system up to the other's evidence is not going to achieve much. If it could... it wouldn't be faith." This is something that seems so obvious to me know, but until Cinders said it, it really hadn't occured to me to think about the issue in that way. I think people, Atheists and Christians alike, are getting caught up in this issue, forgetting that we all have our own knowledge of the world, informed in different ways, so proving and disproving each other perhaps misses the whole point of belief systems.

Cinders ^^ Amen. Also, the one thing about Fundamentalist Christians I would never say is that they don't know their Bible. They may be a lot of other things, but ignorant of scripture they are not. I'd attribute that last point to stupid half-practicing intolerant Christians, which are different from fundamentalists in that they don't have a passion for religion so much as a combined passion for causing conflict and being lazy. And BOTH of those groups are different from rational, devout Christians, who have strong, unwavering faith, but are still intelligent, logical individuals. (Also - was quoted, feel special XD)

Ultimately57 My R.E teacher is EXACTLY like this. I slipped a 'God doesn't exist' thing in a question box (he reads the questions out and then answers them the next lesson) and he practically turned purple with rage.

Ultimately57 Well, not exactly like that, but something like that. Not an actual 'god doesn't exist' thing. A question that would be extremely hard to answer without proving yourself wrong.
