His people died! All of them! Then he suddenly jumped from doing fun and games to helping stop a century long war! Why wouldn't that change your life?!

Yeah I don't think anything can beat having your entire people wiped off the face of the planet.

His dad practically ruined his life he could've been prince, he lost his mother, he was banished, he lost everything. That's life changeing.

But I think their lives have been changed by the same amount.

If the War had never happened, Azula would likely of not become a ruthless killing machine, that was trained since she was a child to be a warrior. Also without the War Azula probably wouldn't have had her breakdown, seeing as the war was the reason her father abandoned her (so he could fulfill his dream of genocide), Zuko joined the Avatar and therefore lead him into a sticky situation which prompted Mai to betray her by trying to save Zuko and Ty Lee betraying her to save Mai. Also Lu Ten, Iroh's son, died due to war which made Ozai ask his father to revoke Iroh's birthright because his line had ended and he had abandoned the battle, Azulon punished Ozai ordering him to kill Zuko, Ursa found out and killed Azulon to save Zuko supposedly, therefore being banished; without the war Azula would have had her mother likely. Azula probably would be a very different person without the war and likely a quite sane person. So the war has effected her greatly.

Also, I believe everyone has been affected, one way or another.

Aang- lost his race, and had to go from a funloving kid to a hero.
Katara/Sokka- lost their mother, the men of the village leaving them in charge, meeting Aang.

And for the royal family of the Fire Nation. Sozin seemed to have had a less strict life, in comparrison to the lives his family carried on after. That family became a wreck, turning against eachother. Also they basicly carried on with the war, because it's all they've ever known. They, along with their nation, was convinced that they were better. They raised their kids to be strong and ruthless- never accepting weakness. Azula and Zuko were also trained. Had to be strong. Zuko, although, had Ursa and later on his uncle to keep him balanced. Azula on the otherhand only had a powerlusting father, who would most likely punish her if she disobeyed or became weak- like Zuko got punished for meerly speaking out of turn. Zuko was also affected because of his father's lack of mercy- obviously. Although in the end, despite the horrible feelings Zuko dealt with for years, it turned out it was the best thing that happened to him- see how sad this is? If he wasn't scarred and banished, Zuko would have been worse off. Azula didn't have that luxury. She hardly had a speck of love in her life, she only had her father and friends- who turned on her. All of the horrible things she had to also deal with, led to her tragic insanity.

I won't dare say that there wasn't a person that was affected by the war. It hits you no matter what. Whether you grew up in a family leading the war, down to the one person that can stop it.

his entire race was gone! and he's the only one left from his nation, not to mention he's the Avatar too. really, poor Aang.

Everyone's lives were effected but Aang's was the most severe. All of his fellow airbenders were wiped out!
