Hideyoshi is a boy. That's why he's wearing he boys' uniform.
In the manga, he dressed up as a girl because the other guys made him.
The reason why Hideyoshi sometimes look like a girl is because the creator of Baka to Test made him a "Trap".
A trap is either a boy who looks like a girl atau a girl who looks like a boy. In other words, a trap makes people wonder what the character's gender is.
People, both in the tunjuk and irl, finds it hard to see if Hideyoshi is a boy atau a girl. That means he's a perfect trap. Which means the creator of Baka to Test did a good job xD

I have an answer! Hideyoshi's biologically a BOY. But in the series, he has his own changing room and is considered a gender. This is a joke used because his gender is hard to tell.

......*face palm* this topic makes me sick....another reason I hate this tunjuk too....Hideyoshi is a BOY, end of story. No he is not 'genderless' he is a BOY. Just because the characters are morons and are jerks to him, doesn't mean he isn't a boy.

Hideyoshi is from the Hideyoshi gender (this is a joke, but everyone still says he is his own gender, even so he is a boy), as it is acknowledged sejak society, going along with the pool's changing rooms and the bathing house's bath room place thingy, I guess it is called that, but what do I know. Simply, he is a girl, atau she is a boy (season two, episode nine I believe. Whichever episode describes why Minami likes Akihisa).

It's a running gag for the entire show, and it kept me laughing, but he claims to be a male, as everyone else, besides his sister, sees him as a female, which causes Minami and Himeji to get jealous quickly sejak saying something like "you're making it look like we're not even trying."

Continuing what I've said, Hideyoshi is in his/her own gender called Hideyoshi. This is continued explained when he has his own separate bath time than the female and male students in episodes five and six of season two. I hope this helps anda in answering your question.

I confirmed this in season 2 (cant remember what episode it was) When they were all going swimming, Hideyoshi told everyone that he was going to wear swim trunks to prove to everyone that he was a boy, he ends up wearing girls shorts, and a bikini top. He berkata it was cuz the store manager told him that they were the best "swim trunks" they had

So people sometimes mix them up.
Also, as Hideyoshii is a very handsome by, and quite quiet, he is often mistaken for a girl.
His hair is also pretty long, so it makes sense to think he's a girl.

Hideyoshi is a gender confused girl the tunjuk goes out of its way to prove so while identical twins can be a boy/girl combo its super rare which is the shows way of saying he's a girl at best I don't think anyone can say for sure while Hideyoshi always says he's a boy I lean towards him being a female watch both seasons of the tunjuk again and if anda are positive he's a boy before you'll at least be confused after anda watch it again

There is a difference between biological sex and gender. Hideyoshi's biological sex is boy. However becouse gender is different from biological sex a person who is born as a boy can be male (the most common gender for a boy), female, atau other. This s also true for people who are born biologicaly girls. Hideyoshi seems to be and enjoy a combination of certain aspects of both the male and female gender (such as male pronouns but feminine appearance) so this would make utama "other" atau his own gender "hideyoshi".
