As I read the series, I could easily tell he mated with her just to prove loyalty, probably not meaning to have kits with her at all. :P He could be secretly proud of Jayfeather, Lionblaze and Hollyleaf. But he'd have to be shocked, too, because he didn't know he got Leafpool pregnant. I'd say he's lebih shocked than proud, in my opinion.
