Damon is more fearless because I feel that right now, he doesn't really have much to lose aside from Stefan. There for his actions are impulsive.

Bonnie may selfless and willing to sacrifice herself for her friends but like any woman her age, I do believe she's scared. She herself said to Stefan she is afraid of what she is...what they are. It's not just something that goes away. Bonnie's just learnt to accept it and go with what she knows for now.

^Yup Damon is fearless, in 2.18 episode Bonnie became really scared after Klausaric happened and it's Damon who had given her the courage to fight Klaus.But at Bonnie's age, it's understandable that she would be scared and Damon would be fearless.As for books Bonnie is always scared without Damon and Damon doesn't fear anyone.
