Emma gazed up at the vast expanse of twinkling stars that blanketed the navy blue landscape. It was a warm September night, and she had re-discovered her favourite part of Central Park. The humans had surrounded this particular area with a hedge, which was hiding an electrical fence, because they wanted to keep the area pollution, and human free. But Emma had found a tiny gap in the fence, one only a penguin could possibly fit through. She still remembered the first time she stumbled across it, how... awestruck she was. It was a small clearing, trees surrounding the hedges, a small bukit in the middle. At the foot of the bukit was a small sparkling waterfall, connected to a river, which led underground, and would eventually sertai the sewer. Emma had always loved waterfalls, even though this was the only one she had ever seen, but it wasn't the reason she was here tonight. That reason hung above her, and lit the dark blue sky.
The stars.
Because of the lack of light pollution in this part of Central Park, the stars were lebih visible and bright here than they were in the whole of New York.
Emma let out a happy sigh, as she spotted her favourite star, Sirius. She had stargazed many times before, and it always evoked the same emotions within her. Happiness, contentment, awe, curiousness, and yet, even a little sadness. Emma had always wanted to visit outer space, even as a little chick. Her mother had once told her that as a little chick, Emma had pointed up into the night sky, and berkata 'I want to go there mummy.' Even to this day, it was her biggest ambition, her life long dream. She had spent so many nights gazing into the sky, so many days Membaca angkasa books, and maybe a bit too much time watching bintang Wars. But it was the one thing about herself she knew would never change. She would always want to visit another planet, to see alien life(even if it was just a plant) atau just go to the moon and be able to stare down at Earth. As she kept her gaze fixed on that one star, Emma remembered how small she was, a single penguin, in such an infinite universe, that was constantly expanding.
Somewhere, right now, on a distant planet, an alien is gazing into the sky, just like me. She thought. But would she ever make it? Would she ever get into space? They were the soalan that plagued Emma's minds on nights like this. Sure, they had tried once, but Kowalski forgot to carry the two, and they ended up on a building instead. They hadn't tried since. She wanted it so bad, in a way she couldn't possibly begin to explain, but she wanted it. She wanted to go where no one had gone before, to explore the unexplored, to truly see the universe. It was a big dream, one she would never let go of, and try her best to make it come true even if she couldn't.
"I'll visit anda someday." Emma whispered to her bintang solemnly. "I promise."
