Harry James Potter Confessions - The epilogue was like a bad fanfiction. I wish it wasn't ever written

It was fine, it's nice knowing what happened to them in the future.

I have to admit that I feel a little awkward about it too, but I don't wish that it had never been written because:

1. The more Harry Potter the better
2. I love the "bravest man I ever knew" quote about Snape
3. I don't want to miss this part of the movie

But the names and the "all was well" were a little too cheesy for my taste.

The only thing about the epilogue that I like is the "bravest man I ever knew" quote.

I'm going to quote a user I can't believe you said that! Anything Joanne has written is brilliant! because it's true. And I loved the epilogue, it was one of my favorite parts of the movie! But you do have a point somewhere, it felt quite awkward having to see Harry and the rest nineteen years later so quickly....

What?!?! That epilogue SUCKED!!!!! Sorry people, but it did. It was completely unrealistic! You mean to tell me these dysfunctional teenage couples actually stayed together for the rest of their lives?!?!? I call b***s***!!! That only happens in certain cases, and this sure wasn't one of them... And don't even get me started on the recycled kids names... things would have been so much better if left to the imagination.

I loved the epilogue. I agree, though, it was written like fanfiction, I just don't care. I don't read books to learn anything, I read books to be entertained. The epilogue was interesting and it entertained me, and that's all I care about.

Wow, OnlyHarmioneHJP, calm down. It is called an opinion. I personally liked the epilogue, and did not think for a minute that the relationships were unrealistic. It's not like all of them marry their highschool sweethearts or anyhting, Draco didn't. How are they dysfunctional, by the way?

The thing I don't get about it was Harry talked to Albus, gave him a hug but what about James? He did'nt get anything. In the movie, there should have been a bit more conversation, not just appearances for appearance sake.

Well jk couldnt just finish it off after the fight unless she produced another book so putting on this chapter is like tying up most loose ends but others needed to be told. It gives a general impression of what the main characters were doing or had done. I think its my favourite chapter of the books and reread it heaps!

I actually like the epilogue. It was a nice piece of closure and it went full circle to the start of the books. The extra only thing I'd have liked is a brief mention of Luna in the same way Neville got a mention.

It'd have been really weird, even though probably more realistic, if the 2 couples had separated and married new people by the time of the epilogue. We'd all be asking "who are these new people?". Readers and viewers get emotionally invested in the couples they see developing, so they want to see those couples happy at the end rather than a more realistic not-with-their-school-sweethearts scenario.
