Trip looks around, if Captain Archer wanted new species he was in the right place, just in the entry way there had to be 20 different peoples. “Well take your pick, we’ve got, blue, purple, furry, scaly, big and small.” He grins looking around.
“Somethin’ new for lunch huh?” Trip says warily, he’s not sure if that’s such a good idea. “I don’t know sir every time I branch out it bites me in the ass. I tried some of that soup T’Pol’s always eatin’ for breakfast and it is every bit as bland and awful as I thought, though her mood makes sense now if that’s what I ate all the time I’d be irritating too. Then - at the urging of Phlox - I tried some Denobulan dish, turns out there were live bugs.” Trip grimaces, that was still a little fresh in his mind for his liking.
They’d seen some interesting meals when they’d visited various planets on their missions. Some of it was edible. Some of it was still wiggling, and Jon wasn’t too fond of that. With a snort he glanced at his best friend as they made their way to the marketplace. “Remind me to tell you about Klingon food. Most of it was still alive. With tentacles!”
The look of disgust on Trip’s face was worth the story, and Jon couldn’t wait to tease him about it later. He bumped shoulders and pointed at a brightly lit restaurant that had some interesting aromas wafting from its open doors. Most of the clientele were humanoid, and most of those looked as human as they were. “Food in there is probably safe for your delicate constitution. Wouldn’t be right to have you getting sick when we get back to Enterprise. T’Pol will have you go to sickbay to see if you’re having another baby.”

And after that, he may or may not be sneaking into the kitchen with Mika to get a midnight snack of macaroni and cheese.
Porthos may or may not be having his nails painted by your first officer and chief engineer’s daughter who may or may not have stolen him and not told her mother. Maybe, it’s just a rumor really.
I hope you’re both aware of what happens when Porthos eats cheese, and with your Vulcan sense of smell….that might not be a good thing at all, T’Pol.

Sorry for the lack of Archer this weekend. I had some far older replies to do on my other blogs that had to be my priority. I’ll try to get to Archer Monday and Tuesday.

In the morning light, it is much clearer how much her mother’s absence has affected her child hood home. Desert dust has blown in and pooled in the bottom of the fountain and in the engravings of the large birth stone, and though the absence was short several of the plants are in need of trimming and tending. T’Pol sets the soup down on the small garden table and sits across from the captain, her robes have picked up dust from the normally clean patio.
“I admit,” T’Pol says, surveying the somewhat over grown garden with a degree of sadness. “It causes me some distress to see the garden like this, my mother wouldn’t have liked it over grown and dusty. As a child I had to dust the birth stone twice a day and sweep the path every evening before my father returned home.”
Phlox said he was healthy, and that he’d managed to escape his adventure in the Forge with no more than the expected bruises, scratches, aches, and pains. He was glad about that, and he’d been prepared to sit on Enterprise, waiting for T’Pol when he got news she wanted him to come to her family home. He might not be in the best shape, but he knew he couldn’t refuse the invitation.
Besides, T’Pol was one of the few Vulcans he did actually like although Soval was amazingly earning enough brownie points to be in the could be a friend someday column. Maybe.
He looked at the soup and thought it smelled better than the chef made for her on board. He’d already looked around the garden while she’d been making their breakfast. “I can help with the garden if you like? I’ve been known to pull up a few weeds in my time—although you’ll have to show which are weeds and which are supposed to be planted here.” He finally took a spoonful of the broth and decided it was OK. It was nothing to write home about, but he knew plomeek was important. “What’s the birthing stone? You’re not telling me you were born in this garden, are you?”

Please take your time replying. I’m being buried alive, and it stresses me out. Give me a day before you reply. I’m trying very hard not to have to drop threads to keep up, because I like my threads. And I like my partners.
