End of Chapter 27
***Emmett's POV***

Alice took off running out of the woods and probably would have ran as fast as she could through town if she hadn't seen the family that was standing on the front lawn across from the forest we just came out of. A small boy probably about four years old screamed in fear as the three of us came running out of the woods, getting his parents attention. We all showed to a walk and smiled as we walked past, Alice and Rosalie making up some conversation about hiking in the woods and being lost. They must have bought the story because the mother waved at us as we walked by, Alice and Rosalie smiling as we passed their house.

Once we out of view of most people we started running at human speed through the rest of the town. A few people watched us strangely, I mean we were running through town dressed in jeans and designer shirts. We ran through town, turning this way and that as we followed Alice. We came around a corner when I heard Alice growl softly, I knew that we were close and that the fight had begun before we got there.

"Edward...NO!" Alice berkata as she turned and ran down a dark alley. "Edward stop!"

Rosalie and I took off running after Alice and had gotten about twenty feet when everything went black, we could hear the fight but couldn't see what was going on. I reached out and pushed Rosalie behind me, as I used my body to shield her from the attacks I could hear but could not see.

Chapter 28

I followed Jasper around the edge of the building when I dihidu, smelt it..the blood that dihidu, smelt like no other. Just being this close to her made my mouth water, made me loose my better judgment...to begin to forget who I am. I started to stalk towards Bella and her parents when Jasper grabbed my arm and growled deeply.

"Edward listen!" Jasper growled in my ear. I was about to tell him off when his eyes narrowed and he whispered "LISTEN!"

I stopped my breathing and focused on listening, I could hear Bella's mother's panicked thoughts. She was petrified, she knew there was something atau someone down here but she couldn't see them. She wanted to run, but couldn't leave her daughter atau her husband behind.

The seterusnya thoughts I heard were that of someone else, someone I couldn't see but could 'hear.' From the thoughts of one of them I knew there were three, it was the leader's thoughts that I could hear the clearest. I knew that he was younger then I was, he had traveled many years alone before turning two others. They were still within their first year, still crazed with blood lust and the rush they got when they killed. They were incredibly dangerous and had tried to turn on him lebih then once, thinking they could overpower him if they tried at the same time..it had almost worked. The only thing that kept them from killing destroying him was the promise he made them to feed them, a promise he made moments before they stumbled across Bella and her family.

The leader was crouched on the roof of the building, his new born companion's on buildings on the other side of the alley waiting for his signal before they attacked.

"The roofs." I whispered so softly that only Jasper would hear it. He nodded as he turned his head to the other side of the alley, sensing the emotions of the newly turned vampires.

I returned to listening to the leader who was paying close attention to Bella, he was thinking of the way that her hair would fall around his hands while he fed...the way she dihidu, smelt made his mouth water, he was having a hard time keeping himself where he was.

I didn't realize I was moving until my feet hit the side of the building, my body flying until I got almost to the edge. I was about to throw myself at him when everything got blurry, it was like a great dense fog rolled in making it so I couldn't see anything solid, just the outline. I growled as I laughed myself, the fog getting denser sejak the saat until I wasn't sure that I was heading in the direction of the leader. As I was flying I sensed someone else's thoughts but couldn't focus on them...I probably would have ignored them except that I heard my name yelled. I had one fraction of a saat to realize that I had heard Alice's voice screaming my name before hands grabbed me and threw me against a brick wall.
