During her childhood, Katherine was well educated, and when she became Queen of England she introduced education to women as well as men. She donated large sums of money to colleges throughout England. With her own education proving that a woman was just as intelligent as any man, she made women's education fashionable and popular. A major stepping stone in women's rights!
Role model:
Katherine was, during her time, and still is the ideal role model for anyone to look up to. She carried herself with a great dignity, menunjukkan kindness to everyone, even towards her husband's mistresses'. She was intelligent, witty, beautiful; a credit to her mother. She was also a scholar, rare during her time, played Muzik well and even inspired admiration from her enemies - Thomas Cromwell once berkata of her "Nature wronged her in not making her a man. But for her sex, she would have surpassed all the Heroes of history."
Katherine as Regent:
When Henry went to war with France he left Katherine as Queen Regent in his absence. During that time England came under attack from Scotland. Without hesitation, Katherine took command and sent troops to fight the Scots. This resulted in England being Victorious against the Scots at the battle of Flodden. One of the casualties of the war was the King of Scots himself, James IV. Katherine sent his bloody jubah, berjubah ahead to France as a trophy to her husband. Scotland were wrong to underestimate the leadership of a woman.
Alms, Compassion & Diversity:
Katherine was a very generous woman. She would give money to the poor, even near the end of her days when she had little enough money to survive on herself. She would also meet with the poor, offering Makanan and clothing, washing their feet. She would do what she could for her subjects, even giving fuel to towns in the winter. She also made shirts for the poor and Holy Orders, even near the end of her life, when her health was poor.
Food:
Katherine introduced salad to England. Growing up in Spain, she adored salad and would eat salad hot.
Henry's adviser:
Before Wolsey's rise to power, Katherine was Henry's chief adviser, helping him in the running of the country. Henry knew how smart Katherine was and respected her opinions. She was his most trusted adviser, having the most influence in ruling the Kingdom.
Women's rights - The First Queen:
Katherine is also the mother of England's first ever Queen Regent, Mary I. The fact that Mary became Queen at all is a triumph for both mother and daughter. Unfortunately, Mary is mainly remembered as 'Bloody Mary' for her persecution of 270 Protestants during her reign. This is unfair, especially since her father and half-sister both executed lebih people during their reigns. Mary's regency showed what her grandmother showed Spain, and her mother showed the Scots; that a woman can rule a Kingdom in her own right, and do it well. When Mary came to the throne, one of her first acts as Queen was to have her mother's marriage to her father declared "good and valid" - something that would've brought her mother great joy and peace. Katherine's marriage validity has never been disputed since. So, although she never lived to see her triumph, in death Katherine won her cause against Henry, and her daughter finally succeeded in becoming Queen of England.
