Louis C.K.’s ‘Louie’ Going on ‘Extended Hiatus’ on FX 

Louis C.K. is taking an “extended hiatus” from his eponymous FX series, FX Networks and FX Productions CEO John Landgraf announced Friday at FX’s Television Critics Association press day.

Landgraf added that it’s unclear as to when the comedy will be back on the cabler, predicting anything from six months to two years. He added that the return “will be [C.K.’s] choice” and that he is welcome back whenever he is ready.

This departure was blamed on scheduling. The Emmy-winning comedian is an exec producer on three other projects for FX — including the clown comedy “Baskets” that stars Zach Galifianakis and “Better Things,” which sounds like the female version of “Louie” as it is set around a single mother and working actress who is struggling to raise three daughters.

Landgraf equated C.K.’s departure to the situation HBO is in with comedian Larry David’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” which is a series that runs based on the “Seinfeld” alum’s schedule. If Landgraf had his way, the comedy would run for 20 years.

“Louie” took a two-year hiatus after season 3. Season 5 wrapped in May.

My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it’s pretty serious.

“Louie,” started off as the best comedian-based comedy on cable. Now, the show is just social commentary about his awkward self towards social situations and events. Give me a break, we all have shortcomings, I don’t watch comedy to see your personal problems.

Louis C.K. is the most over-rated comedian in the business. Here’s hoping his hiatus is permanent.
