\'s upcoming second season may attempt to answer more questions on David\'s backstory, as well as his connection to Professor X.

spinoff is set to return a year after the events of the first season, when David Haller (Dan Stevens) was whisked off to another place.

The upcoming season looks set to be as bonkers as ever – going by the first trailers, at least – though may provide some clarity too.

Stevens has now opened up a bit about what to expect, revealing that there is potential to explore his character\'s backstory in the upcoming episodes.

"It\'s always there and it\'s always plaguing him or ringing bells in the background of whatever is going on," he told

"It\'s less at the forefront of his mind, at the beginning of this season, but it definitely comes into play, as we move on, as it does naturally for people who discover that they are adopted. It\'s an intriguing prospect, I\'ll say that."

As for his connection to Professor Charles Xavier – who is Legion\'s father in the original comics – the first season gave us a little tease of his wheelchair.

On where that will go in season two, Stevens was more coy, though noted that the "awesome" wink was "the actual wheelchair from the X-Men movies".

"It came up to Vancouver in a special crate and there was almost a ceremony, as it was un-boxed. It was really cool."

Sir Patrick Stewart, who plays Professor X in the movies, recently said he would "absolutely, 100%" be up for reviving the character in Legion, so fingers crossed.

returns to the US on FX on Tuesday, April 3 at 10pm ET/PT, after which it will show in the UK on Fox on Tuesday, April 17 at 9pm.
