I only saw the first few minutes of Rainbow Rocks, but from what I can tell, the villains in that had a pretty solid idea. In the first Equestria Girls, Sunset Shimmer was just kinda being *pardon my language* A mega bitch. :P

I found it odd, that Sunset Shimmer was way better as a side character than a villain. I really enjoyed her performance in Rainbow Rocks, so I liked the Dazzlings more as antagonists.
