Niall Horan pays tribute to Eagles guitarist Glenn Frey, 'one of my favourites'

Eagles' founding member Glenn Frey dies at 67

Niall Horan has long been an outspoken, die-hard fan of the Eagles, and the One Direction singer paid tribute to the late Glenn Frey on social media on Monday.

“Very sad to hear of the passing of one of my favourites of all time,” Horan captioned an Instagram photo of Frey, adding that the Eagles guitarist and founding member is “A man I had the pleasure of meeting and a man I had the honour of listening to all my life.” 

On Twitter, Horan, 22, quoted lyrics from “No More Cloudy Days,” a track from the Eagles’ most recent record, 

(2007): “These cloudy days, make you wanna cry. It breaks your heart when someone leaves and you don’t know why.”

In a conversation with EW in advance of the release of One Direction’s fifth album, 

, Horan cited the Eagles as one of his biggest inspirations. “My favorite band of all time is The Eagles. They’ve influenced me in the stuff I listen to now and the way I write,” he said, going on to add that “Hotel California” and “Desperado” are songs he wishes he had written himself. 

Frey died Monday of complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis, and pneumonia, a note on the band’s official website confirmed. He was 67.
