Outlander Season 3 to Give Viewers the Bloody But Spectacular Battle of Culloden, Confirms Showrunner
The second season of the British time-traveling romance drama TV series “Outlander” on Starz ended when the Battle of Culloden was about to start, leaving a major cliffhanger for Season 3.
Fans would not be disappointed with the wait in between seasons as producer and showrunner Ronald D. Moore has already confirmed that the first two episodes of Season 3 of “Outlander” shall feature the bloody but spectacular Battle of Culloden that has been promised by the show in Season 2, notes Moviepilot.
The Battle of Culloden, based on history, is the siege which spelled the doom and complete wipeout of the Jacobites.
Moore assured that the viewers of “Outlander” shall really get some sense of what happened during the battle.
He added that it is a completely different beginning to the story as “Outlander” heads to “Voyager,” the third book of Diana Gabaldon, where Season 3 is to be based upon.
Actor Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie Frasier in the TV series, also validated the proud statement of Ronald D. Moore on the Battle of Culloden scenes in “Outlander” Season 3. He said that it really looks spectacular.
However, after the high-octane Battle of Culloden scene, Season 3 of “Outlander” will slow down a bit as “Voyager” is a long and emotionally wrenching ride.
It is not clear if the TV series shall follow the book exactly but based on the first two seasons of “Outlander,” the show hardly deviated from its source materials.
But Moore assured fans of “Outlander” that Season 3 shall offer much more than the Battle of Culloden.
Another thing that is exciting fans of “Outlander” is the reunion of Jamie and Claire Frasier, played by Caitriona Balfe.
It can be recalled that during the Season 2 finale, Claire traveled back through the stones in Craigh na Dun, leaving Jamie behind to fight a doomed battle for the Jacobite army.
However, by some miracle of fate, Jamie survived but neither Claire nor the viewers know exactly how he managed to stay alive in one of the most violent battles in Scottish history.
Incidentally, there are reports going around saying that actors Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are now dating and are said to be a real-life couple already.
However, the two are said to be hiding their relationship to the public, reports Game & Guide.
Their rumored romantic relationship is actually the reason why the two actors were said to have enjoyed filming their intimate scenes for the upcoming Season 3 of “Outlander.”
There are reports saying that Heughan and Balfe as the Frasier couple would be sharing countless bed scenes in Season 3 of “Outlander.”
Some production people claimed that the two look like a real couple when they do the bed scenes for the hit TV series. Eyewitnesses even say that the rumored couple is showing genuine emotions whenever they do the hot scenes.
However, neither Sam Heughan nor Caitriona Balfe or both has confirmed anything as of yet so fans should take the romantic angle rumors with a pinch of salt.
Incidentally, “Outlander” has been renewed for two more seasons following the successful airing of its Season 2 finale in July.
Filming for both Season 3 and 4 of “Outlander” has started on August 21 and reports have it that the production team would be able to complete it in May next year.
Thus, the airing date of Season 3 of “Outlander” might come out later than April, which has been its usual airing date on Starz during its first two seasons.
It was actually actor Sam Heughan who confirmed that they are filming the series next two seasons back-to-back until May next year.
In a recent Facebook Live session, he said that they are doing 11 months of filming and they will finish by end-May. He also revealed that they will finish the shooting in South Africa which is pretty awesome and Season 4 will start not long after that.
