Later that same day, Private laid in katil and listened to the rain pour onto the roof. He watched the trees' branches and leaves being wrestled sejak the gusts. The little round penguin was begging for the power to remain on-for the storm was just as bad as the one yesterday. He felt almost as if he was in a trance. Nothing could free his attention from the storm. Then, he heard Rico.
"Private!" He shouted. Private jumped. He turned and glared at his friend for the rude awakening, especially since they all were in the same room.
"I've been trying to get your attention for the past two minutes!" Skipper barked. His reaction shifted once he saw Private's petrified face. "Hey, anda all right, Private?"
Private nodded, and tried to pull himself together-enough to speak at least. "Yes, sorry, Skippah." Apologized Private.
"Don't be sorry. Just answer seterusnya time, okay." Skipper said.
"Now, Rico and I are going to get something. Do anda need anything?" Skipper asked.
"Y-you can't just leave me here! What if the power goes out, again?!" Private stuttered.
"What if… there's an earthquake? What if there's a tornado? Private, we're only going to be downstairs! Last time anda were in trouble, we saved you."
"But this time anda might not be so lucky." Private muttered. Skipper rolled his eyes, and walked out. He didn't slam the door behind him, but it was still awful loud. Private jumped.
The chubby little penguin raced to the closed door. He listened for Rico's rapid steps. But they didn't come. He heard whispers from Skipper, but he couldn't make them out. The leader was keeping his voice too low. There was no way to hear. Yet that didn't mean he couldn't see. Private stretched on the bahagian, atas of his tip-toes.
He got closer and closer to the peep-hole. He almost slipped, but regained his balance. As soon as the hole came in sight, he stared into it. An eye stared back at him! The pupils-black. Private screamed, and rushed to the bed.
The lights shut off. His cries contuined until his voice was straining. Something flung the door open. His heartbeat pounded. It was transparent. The young penguin leaped to his feet. A invisble force thrashed Private through the air. He slammed his back on the opposite wall.
Once Private gathered himself, he felt the pain throbbing his head. A crimson liquid trickled down his forehead. At that moment, Private had two goals for survival: get out and find a weapon atau tool. Pushing on the dinding for support to get up, he let out a groan. lebih blood began to ooze down his face. A lighter rush of wind brushed past hin. It was eerie especially because the window was shut. It blew in the direction of one of the nightstands. It was Kowalski's.
The penguin took caution approaching the furniture. There was a strange feeling he had about it. Almost it felt like he was being called to it-for reasons unknown. The feathers on his neck stood up. With a trembling flipper he reached for the handle of the droor.
Doubt of finding anything filled his head. There wasn't when they arrived. "No turning back now." Private whispered. He pulled it. Nothing gruesome awaited him. Instead, it was just the opposite. A candle sat in the corner of the droor. Three matches were scattered throughout the rest of it. "I wonder how that got in there." Pondered Private. "Oh well, no use over-thinking it."
He grabbed the candle. Glass covered it, and a handle was at the top. Carefully, he lit a match, and set the candle ablazing. Private carried the handle, and waddled out the door. A strange noise eminated from down the hall. It was a little girl. She was singing, but where was she? "Rain, rain, go away. Come again, some other day. Rain, rain, go away. Come again, some other day." It was contuinous. As he stepped closer, he could tell it was coming from the room at the end of the hall. When he finally reached it, he stared up at the door. The round penguin gulped. He hesitantly opened the door.
Another young penguin rocked back and forth in the corner. It was Ellie! She contuined her song. He rushed up to her. "Ellie! You're all right!" He cheered. She stayed with her back to him.
"I tried to warn you. I tried to warned you." She gasped. But the seterusnya time she repeated it sounded like another voice accompanied her. "We tried to warn you. But they wouldn't let us." It was Kowalski saying it too!
"Who? What? Kowalski?!" Private cried. In the blink of an eye, all that was left was a puddle of blood. He looked down. Blood drenched his feathers. But he wasn't the only thing blood covered.
Private almost fainted, when he saw blood on the wall. Normally, he wouldn't be as freaked out. But the blood spelled out a message, and it looked like it was being written sejak the second. It read: BEWARE OF THE DEMONS DISGUISED AS ANGELS! The Penulisan turned to scribbles. Private gasped. It contuined. YOU…LITTLE…BRAT! I'LL RIP...... OUT YOUR GUTS...AND....EAT....THEM! I'M COMING FOR YOU.....PRIVATE! THIS IS YOUR FINAL hari HERE! Private tried to run, but another force slammed the door open, and flung him through it. It shut behind him. He laid in the hallway. Everything turned blurry as he was about to lose concuissness. Ramona waddled up. "Oh anda poor little angel!" She cried, and picked him up. Private smiled and thought. "She thinks I'm an angel." He collspsed in her flippers.
The seterusnya thing Private knew a flipper was right in front of his face. Something warm and wet was being dabbed on his forehead. He panicked, slapped the flipper away, and sat up. It was Skipper. In his flipper was a washclothe.
"Are anda okay, Private?" He asked. "You took quite a fall there."
"A fall?" Private repeated.
"That is what happened, right?" Skipper asked. He couldn't tell Skipper. What if he thought he was crazy?
"Oh, yes, I fell."
"This is an awful amount of blood for a fall. Don't anda think, Private?" Skipper caught on. Private sat petrified. "Private, this is the like the twentith time you've been traumatized while we've been here. Now, please, tell me what happened. I won't tell any one. It'll be our secret, okay? I just want to help you." Skipper berkata concerned.
"Skippah, do anda think I'm going nuts?" He asked-hurt.
"No, I want to know what you're going through." Skipper brought his soldier close.
"Well, when the power went out, I heard a noise. So I followed the noise into a room, where I… was… attacked!"
"Did anda see, who attacked you?"
"No,"
"Do anda think you'll be all right, if I prepare Rico for his date?"
"Yes,"
"Are anda sure?"
"Yes, Skippah!"
"All right,"
Skipper stepped out of the room. But as soon as he shut the door he heard talking. It was between him and Ramona.
"What did anda do to him?" She threatened.
"I didn't do anything!"
"Then, how'd he get all that blood on him?"
"He was attacked!"
"Do anda really think I buy that, Skipper?" Ramona snarled. He sighed.
Skipper must have made his way down stairs, because he heard no farther conversation. There was a knock upon the door. "Can I come in?" A soft voice called. "Who is it?" Private called back. "It's just Ramona."
"Okay," Private berkata friendly.
"Hi, Private, how are anda feeling, buddy?" She greeted as she came in. She had a bag over her shoulder. "Better," Private smiled.
"That's great, sweetheart!" She exclaimed. "Now, what exactly happened?"
"Oh, it's nothing." Private bluffed.
"You're lying-I mean-please Private, I'm only looking out for your better good.
"I know, I know."
"Now, I have some medicine for the pain, all right?"
"Okay," Private gulped. She dug through her bag. After saat of searching, she pulled out a short orange pill bottle.
"All right, so it says to take two." She berkata Membaca the information on the back. The penguin stuck-out her flipper. Two white pills laid there. Private took, and swallowed them generously.
Suddenly, he felt sleepy. "Drowsiness is one of the side effects." She added. He nodded with a yawn, and fell asleep.
Rico headed out the door into the dark night. The full moon loomed above, but was masked sejak sinsiter looking clouds. He paid no attention to the hostilty that filtered the frigid air. The penguin shivered from a Rawak case of chills.
Rico shrugged, and contuined on his way. Lights in the blue pool shimmered brightly, reflecting the surface of the water. Yet it was transparently vacant.
"Hello?" Rico called. There was no answer. He began to poise himself for an ambush. After nothing happened, the psycho thought. "She berkata swimming. So that could also mean ... the lake."
But to get there, he would have to skim through the woods, that lurked with perils. He stopped. Was it really worth it? sejak this point, he was even frightened to go back. No turning back now he thought.
When he began mustering up confidence, maybe he had gotten too much. "No matter who's out there, I can take 'em" He declared. But could he? Really? Either way he was about to find out.
The closer he got to the lake, the lebih fog piled up. It rose from the ground like ghosts from their tombs. Finally he had reached the pantai of the lake. But his mission was a complete failure, when he realized he couldn't see far. The fog rose silently. The sky and a few blades of tall yellow rumput were the only things visible.
He turned to head back. The fog plagued his sight too much. Still he tried to leave, but he gave up one way, when he found himself in the lake. The pyscho tried another, but it was to no avail. Rico was going in circles and his crisis was urgent.
From behind him a black figure arose from the lake. Rico was awestruck, not even knowing it was there. With an axe in one flipper the penguin remained in a steady pace.
Rico turned and tried to scream, but it was too late. The attacker went for Rico's neck. Rico was too fast for him, and ducked. Now it was Rico's turn. He had a perfect advantage. Rico kicked. The foe swung the axe splitting Rico's leg. He laid on the ground, wailing in pain. The masked villain retried its first choice with another hack. The last thing Rico saw was his murder unmasking itself, and it swinging the weapon toward his throat.
Private rubbed his temples. He laid in bed. The little penguin had just woken up. Where was Skipper? How long had he been asleep? With these soalan blurring his mind he glanced at the clock. It was nearly midnight! Shouldn't Skipper be back?
And what about Rico?
Private stepped out of bed. As his feet hit the floor, he felt dizzy. He decided it was time to take lebih medicine. Maybe Ramona had left lebih pills in one of the droors. The first one Private checked was Skipper's. He slowly opened it. When he saw the contense, he covered his beak and gasped.
