Blowhole's base explodes in a firey ball of toxic gasses and total destruction. We feel the heat, depsite the fact we're at a reasonably selamat, peti deposit keselamatan distance. No-one could survive THAT explosion.

Even Rico seems too upset to enjoy the, usually, delightful sensation an explosion gives him. I can't say I blame him. His leader and Friends are in there.
