ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN AND ARE NOT INFUENCED sejak ANYTHING OTHER THAN WHAT I HAVE PERCIEVED FROM THE SHOW. NOT INTENDED TO BASH ANY CHARACTERS. I have only started watching Supernatural about a bulan ago, and I am in Cinta with the characters. My obsession had led me to finish season after season in a heated frenzy, thirsty for more. Because I watched all the seasons in such close proximity, I have really had a chance to watch the characters change and grow. Now first off, I Cinta both Sam and Dean. Both have a lot to offer to the tunjuk and to each other, and their relationship often makes us envious, on lebih than one occasion. I do not want to take sides on characters, because I believe we can lose the essence when we favour one side over another. I will however, admit I have a soft spot for dear little Sammy, the rebellious, sweet, intellectually-gifted, compassionate little brother. However these are just small snippets of what makes up Sam Winchester. I have composed a small senarai that helps shed some light on an often-misunderstood Sam. Part two to be published, pending on reviews.

1.    Sam really does Cinta Dean.
One of the greatest, most lovable aspects of the series is the bond shared between the two Winchester brothers. Wincest aside; there is no doubt that these brothers are soul mates. Not in the romantic sense, but in a deep, selfless, sacrificial relationship they share, where they will go through hell and back, to keep each other safe. Because of their personalities, I would say Dean exhibits this lebih openly (selling his soul to bring Sam back for instance), but its not to say that Sam does not feel the same. To Sam, Dean is an important figure, a role model, a caregiver and in some sense, his only friend. The hunter lifestyle led both the boys to travel everywhere, changing schools lebih often then not and making lasting relationships, unlikely. When all is berkata and done, the only thing that stayed beside them both throughout the years was, well each other. The tunjuk focuses a lot on Dean protecting Sam, however its not to say Sam wouldn’t do the same if telah diberi the opportunity. For example, when Dean was sent to hell, Sam went to any demon he could find to arrange a deal, though none did. In the episode mystery spot, he has watched Dean die over and over again, which leaves him frazzled and worn. The emotional toll is seen when he finally reaches Wednesday, and just gives Dean a rare hug. When Dean does die for real, the state Sam is left in is heartbreaking. And who could forget the season 5 finale when Sam regains control from Lucifer after beating up Dean? He is shaking, and scared, as hell opens up, but after exchanging last glances with Dean, he closes his eyes in resolve. His Cinta for Dean is demonstrated in this sacrificial act, where he willingly jumps in to save not just the world, but also his big brother. And as almost insurance, he makes Dean promise to leave this life, and ultimately Sam behind. Sam has seen behind Dean and his façade, and offers him the one thing he wanted the most that Sam could not give him; a family of his own. Sam in a sense understood that Dean could not be happy with their life, with Sam, and with his sacrifice, gave him one good tahun to relish. If that isn’t love, I’m not sure what is.

2.    Family is important.
It has been thought and berkata sejak even Sam himself that family is not as important to him as it is to Dean. This, I believe to be untrue. If I were to take a flying leap, I would say that it is important in a different way. Sam leaves his family behind and remains estranged for several years when he goes to Stanford, leaving many to believe that he does not value his family. If anda look at it from Sam’s perspective, from an early age, he was forced into a life he never wanted. When offered the opportunity to embrace a new life, away from the monsters and his overbearing father, with whom he constantly butted heads with, the choice was perhaps, simple. One of the redeeming features of Sam is his intelligence, however I believe it often lacks some…insight. He is smart, there is no doubt, but often I find that he does not seem to think about how his choices may impact others on several different levels. Take Stanford, he saw an opportunity, but did not see how much pain it would cause Dean. Take drinking demon blood, he saw a means of getting stronger and saving people, but he did not see how it could change him and in a sense, “dehumanize” him. At the end of the day, these boys have only each other to lean on and as the world comes crashing down around them, family is important.

3.    Sam is awkward.
Dean is known for his funny, often crude one-liners that displace awkward situations. For Dean, it is a defense mechanism that we peminat-peminat have seen through lebih often then not. However when it comes down to it, I would say that Sam is even lebih awkward then Dean. Dean deals with his issues with booze, women and occasional heart-to-heart talks, where he cracks a few tears and breaks down from the burden. However, Sam rarely does, which leads us to wonder where all the frustrations go. Sam is the supposed lebih compassionate one of the two, who engages Dean in talking out his problems. However when it goes the other way, Sam insists he’s “fine”. Of course nobody believes that, and he has a nasty routine of internalizing issues until he explodes. His awkwardness is also what disguises his true feelings. Like I berkata earlier, we can see that Dean really loves Sam, but sometimes it’s hard to see it the other way around. Sam does not openly display his heart, and it often leaves us guessing to how he’s really feeling.

4.    Sam is innocent.
While it can be argued that no hunter is innocent, I believe Sam retains a certain degree. Firstly, he is still child-like in his ideals, being often the lebih optimistic of the two. He believes in everyone, that despite how Lost they may be, that they can still be reasoned with. This is one of the lebih refreshing aspects of Sam, that nobody is “too far gone” for him. He is willing to trust in anybody, monster atau not. This has been demonstrated much throughout the series, namely his willingness to let the “vegetarian” vampire and Amy Pond go, as well as his pain when he was asked to kill Madison in the episode “heart”. Dean is lebih hardened, and will finish the jobs at hand, not batting an eye at how a “monster” could be harmless. Perhaps it’s that Sam sympathizes better with them, as he himself is ‘infected’ with demon blood. This makes him a lebih open, accepting and forgiving person, he doesn’t lose trust atau faith in people unlike Dean. This can also be deemed a weakness, as it has been used against him before (namely Ruby). This is one of the things I Cinta the most about Sam. That despite everything, the one thing anda can count on the most is that he would be there for you, no matter what.

5.    Sam is empty.
There’s probably going to be a lot of controversy on this one, but its one of the underlining problems I see, so I want to share. Let’s start sejak asking ourselves, what does Sam Cinta the most in the world. Well to most people, the answer would be Dean, Bobby, Cas, saving people, possibly Jess. Now we ask, what does Sam want the most in the world, and its here that we start seeing problems. What does Sam really want? Jess? Maybe at one point, but even Sam admits that he can’t go back to how things were because he’s changed. Does he want a family, like Dean? Not to say he doesn’t, but Sam has not expressed interest as Dean did (remember the heartbreaking line Dean berkata when he went to see Lisa before planning to say yes to Michael? “When I do picture myself happy, it’s with you- and the kid.”) Does he want a normal life? Again, maybe at one point, up until Jess died, but even I see that sadly, there’s no turning back for Sam. In fact, I’d be very surprised if the series showed Sam living a “normal” life, because it seems that any aspirations atau dreams Sam ever held, were Lost when he was forced back into the hunter life. I feel overwhelming sadness for Sam, because the way things are going now, I can see him staying in this life forever, the life he never wanted. If I were to guess on how they would turn out, fifty years from now, I can see Dean married, with children, living a normal life, growing old and having a relatively happily ever after. With Sam, I see a road paved with thorns, and pain, with Sam being like an uncle who visits Dean and his happy family, then disappears for years on end on jobs, ultimately dying alone, probably not living to be old. Season 6's Soulless Sam gave us a very scary, but very real version on how Sam could turn out. I do hope the new season will help Sam find a reason in life. Currently, he lives to live. He survives, saves some people along the way but does not have any desires. If I could wish one thing for Sam, it would be for him to be happy. We know what makes Dean happy, but can we say the same for Sam?
