There’s no denying that Taylor Swift and her fierce group of gal pals exemplify #squadgoals, but according to squad member and supermodel, Gigi Hadid, their squad is about much more than inspiring envy.

, the model says the entire idea behind Swift’s squad of powerhouse stars is to inspire empowerment among women.

According to Hadid, Swift’s squad of girls, most of whom can be seen in the singer’s epic “Bad Blood” music video, often talk about what it means to be united.

“We talk about it a lot; it’s a conversation we often have. We want to be the generation and the group of friends known for supporting each other,” explains Hadid in the mag. “‘Squad Goals’ is a big social media thing right now, and that’s what we want to inspire in other groups of friends— to be proud of the power you all have when you’re together, which can be amplified so much by each person. That’s what has been cool about everyone’s willingness to be there for each other.”

Above all else, Hadid says the main goal of Swift’s squad revolves around being genuinely supportive of everyone else and their accomplishments.

“We don’t want to be like other generations who are infamous for their cattiness,” said Hadid. “That was cool and it worked for them and they were great. We just want to be the new generation.”
