The Wide Open World
Here it is another day
Trying hard just to carry on
"Bring me my breakfast and sweep up the floor"
That's all I hear night and noon
Sometimes I want to run away
But this where I'm going to be
So I do, I keep wondering
If there's something lebih for me
Down the meadow, past the ravine
Does to rumput grow, greener than green?
Are there places I've never dreamed of
Out in the wide open world?
Somewhere there's a miller's son
Just as handsome as anything
White ribboned ladies parade in the square
Longing to cling to his arm
Look at me, just a peasant girl
Destined to cling to her plough
