I brought Double Deluxe which included Nightlife and Celebration Stuff pack. So, I wouldn't know. It would also depend on the type of computer anda have. What is it? XP, Vista, 7, Mac?
I'm pretty positive anda need the base game for Night Life to work. It comes with things that Night Life doesn't but that are necessary for it to run. True anda can get versions that come with both, but anda still have to have the data in the base game to run it - at least as far as I know.
anda can't. All expansion packs need the base game to work. The thing about expansion packs is that they're just an add-on to the base game. So anda have to get TS2 before anda can install Nightlife.

Yeah, Like she said.. It's impossible to have the sims 2 nightlife without the base game, because the sims 2 expanisons aren't the actual game, They are only improvements and add-ons.. So Sorry! It won't work. ;[
