Cause if you didn't watch AtS then you wouldn't remember the scene because it's from the first season of Angel. If you did watch AtS, I'm surprised you don't remember only because it's one of the most popular Bangel scenes and well known Bangel episodes. I don't watch TVD... so I can't say the Bangel scene is better. But since this Bangel scene makes me cry more than any other television scene (not including deaths)and is from one of my favorite television episodes- then I don't think it's likely that I would like the Damon & Elena scene better. Plus.. any scene in which the actor says the actress's name instead of the character is pretty awesome in my book. Even though i mch Prefer SB I love BA too and this is one of my all-time fav scenes of theirs. I sob everytime i watch it.
