I laid beside Jacob as he pulled the comforter up to his chest, wiping sweat from his brow.
I rested my head on his chest with a soft moan, my hands tucked under my chin while I stared into his softly contoured face.
He wrapped an arm around me with a sigh, smiling gently. After lebih than five minit he turned to face me. “What?” He smiled. “Is there something on my face?”
I shook my head. “No. You’re just, so beautiful.” I pushed a bit of hair away from his forehead.
“Is there a mirror above me I don’t know about?” He asked, stretching his neck back to view the headboard.
I laughed once gently, shaking my head again.
“Are anda okay?”
“Perfect. I’m always perfect with you.”
He smiled a bit wider, relaxing even lebih into the pillow, facing away again.
“Marry me.” I whispered gently.
Jake looked to me, his expression bewildered. “What?”
“Please?”I pleaded lightly, staring into his eyes.
“Nessie, are anda sure you're feeling all right?”
“I have never been better, thank you.”
He scoffed and looked to the ceiling.
“Oh come on, Jake! We’ve been together for what, nine years? Wouldn’t that mean we already have a common law marriage?”
“Common law marriages don’t count when one half of the coupling was in diapers when the pair met.”
I stuck my tongue out and pushed myself away from him, grabbing a t-shirt from the floor and putting it on. Lying down on my bantal I crossed my arms.
“Besides, we’ve only really been together two years. We also don’t live together atau share bills atau anything which are both part of the rules for such a union.”
“I can see you’ve looked into this.”
“My mom and dad had a common law marriage. They weren’t actually married until my sister was one.”
“Really?” I asked quickly, moving back to rest on his chest.
“Yeah. They thought that marriage meant anda could live together happily without all the red tape like licenses and stuff. They believed in the Cinta and sanctity of marriage, not the church and monogrammed towels part.”
“That’s amazing. Why didn’t anda ever tell me about that before?”
“It never came up.”
“Ah, I see. So, anda didn’t think I’d be interested to learn anything new about your family when they are practically mine as well?”
“No. I just didn’t think it was relevant.”
“Wow.”
“What?”
“Coupling, sanctity, relevant; you’re really boosting your vocabulary.”
He looked to me, his eyes narrowed in mock anger.
I smirked.
He looked away and sighed, “I think I’ve been spending too much time with Edward.”
“That would explain it,” I nodded.
We laid in silence for a minute. Jacob’s eyes never left the ceiling.
“What are anda thinking about?”
“Nothing. It’s just –Where is this coming from? Why are anda so keen to get married all of the sudden?”
“Because I Cinta you.” I answered quickly.
“I Cinta anda too. anda know that. And?”
“And –I want to make that Cinta public.”
“How much lebih public can it get?” He asked, finally looking at me.
“True. But that’s not the kind of publicity I want. I want something more, I don’t know, PDA contrary. “
He looked back to the ceiling.
“Besides, I want to see anda in a tux.”
“Are anda serious?” He laughed, taking in my face again.
“Yes.” I placed my palm to his cheek sharing my fantasy. “And I want to walk down an aisle in the presence of our Friends and family wearing a pretty white dress.” I smiled as I lowered my hand, placing it back under my chin.
He shook his head suddenly, letting out a low chuckle, his eyes narrowing in amusement, “Are anda sure your dress should be white? Because that would be a lie.”
“Hey!” I retorted, propping myself up a little higher to look directly into his eyes. “What they don’t know won’t hurt them.”
“Gotcha.”
“And I don’t want to do it for the towels either. I want to marry anda so to prove to the world . . . interracial relationships do work.”
He sat up and hit me with my own bantal as I laughed.
As he fell back into place I nestled into his shoulder.
“You’re hilarious anda know that?”
“Yeah, I do,” I replied certainly, “Especially when I’m tormenting you.”
“Come here.” He reached over and pulled me close, Ciuman me passionately with a playfully, rough edge.
I giggled as he rested his head once lebih upon his bantal and closed his eyes. “Jake.”
“Hmm?”
“I do Cinta you.”
“I Cinta you, too, Renesmee. For all eternity."
I curled into him and yawned, closing my eyes.
I heard the door click open. It didn’t bother me at all. Billy usually gave Jacob a wake up call around noon so he could do his chores before the sun went down. Not that it took him that long, but Billy didn’t think it was prudent for a young man to sleep all day. Who ever this was didn’t say anything though. There wasn’t a ‘Get up!’ a ‘Come on Boy!’ atau anything even close.
Suddenly there was a deep roar and weight landing on bahagian, atas of my legs.
I sprang up with a growl.
“Paul!” Jake yelled sitting up as well.
“What the hell are anda doing?” I screamed, holding the comforter up to cover my waist.
“This is your early morning wake up call!” He glanced around the room a second; taking in the discarded clothing on the floor, “What were anda two doing last night?” He laughed robustly, not expecting what would happen next. I don’t believe anyone could have predicted it actually.
Without thinking, I channeled every ounce of anger and decked him square in the face.
He flew backward, hitting the carpet with a hard thud.
“Whoa, whoa, Renesmee. Calm down. It’s all right.” Jake said, wrapping his large hand around my wrist as I hissed at the foot of the bed.
“Hey!” Paul growled, pushing himself up off the floor. “I was just having a little fun.” He touched the place on his lip where the blood was emerging.
I took a breath and fell back in my place, pressing hard against my temples, eyes closed.
“Hey, I’m sorry man. We’ll be out in a minute,” Jake berkata calmly.
“Yeah.” Paul replied, shutting the door hard as he exited.
Jake let out a worried chuckle, “What the hell was that?”
I didn’t respond, just laid in my place, my eyes still closed and my hands messaging my temples.
“Nessie what is going on with you?”
“I don’t know!”I shouted, sitting upright. “I don’t know. . .” The words drifted from my lips like air, barely audible even to those with ears like Jacob’s atau my own.
He sighed. “Just relax. It’s all right. Paul’s an ass, we all know it. He deserves everything he gets.”
“No he doesn’t.” I sighed. “I don’t know that that was but I hope it doesn’t happen again.”
“Then it won’t.” He shrugged.
“I’m not so sure.”
He watched me for another moment then climbed out of bed, grabbing a pair of khaki shorts from his dresser drawer and pulling them on. His eyes drifted up to me as he finished, “Get dressed. I’ll see anda in a few.”
“Okay.” I whispered, watching him slide out the door.
I sat in the silence. What had just happened? Was I loosing it? Was this just another side affect to being half vampire? Uncontrollable rage? No. That couldn’t be it. Vampires are very in control of their emotions. At least, my family is. That’s how I was raised. Think first, act second. Yeah. So that can’t be what caused it. Maybe I was just cooped up too much, needed some air. Possibly.
I nodded to myself, agreeing with my thoughts then walked quickly to my duffle bag seterusnya to the closet.
“Hey Billy,” I greeted as I entered the living room, adjusting the strap to my bag over my shoulder. Jacob was no where to be seen.
“Hello, Renesmee. I hear you’re feeling vicious this morning.”
“Oh.” I replied, flushing bright red and lowering my face to the floor for an instant.
He laughed, “Don’t worry about it. If it’s not anda hitting him it’s Jacob. Paul’s a very persistent young man. Too bad Rachel loves him so much. I’d boot him out quicker than a bullet can fly from a gun.”
“Right, um, where did Jake go?”
“He’s running yesterday’s catch up to Sue and Charlie. They’re having ikan fry tonight.”
“Ah.” I nodded once, pulling on my shoes.
“Going somewhere?” He asked, the right wheel on his chair suddenly touching my calf.
I turned quickly, pulling on the saat shoe, “Yeah, I uh, have some things to do at home.”
“Like what?”
“I’m helping Nana rearrange the living room.”
He stared blankly up at me, a mocking smile still curled on his lips.
This was definitely the most pathetic excuse I could have possibly come up with. At least he knew that it was an excuse. The real reason for my leaving was easy for him to see. I was mortified. I’d acted like a fool, physically assaulted Rachel’s boyfriend. I’d Lost my mind. I needed to run, get away, find myself again.
I was suddenly seeing two of him, my stomach bubbling inside me, I felt my eyes widen.
“Nessie?” Billy’s two faces twisted with concern while my body began to boil. I felt the heat rise in my face, the sweat rise on my brow. “Are anda –”
I darted past him. I threw myself ke hadapan over the sink as the discolored fluid flowed from my mouth. I coughed, fighting for air before the seterusnya wave hit.
Billy’s hand rubbed against the middle of my back. “It’s going to be all right,” He whispered.
The vomit protruded, lebih forcefully this time.
Still his hand continued, moving up and down, trying to calm me.
I spit out the last of the bile, breathing heavily.
“It’s okay.” Billy crooned once more, holding out a towel.
I took it slowly, dabbing the corners of my mouth gently while staring out at the cloudy countryside. I counted the leaves on the trees, listened for the sound of Jake’s car pulling into the driveway.
“Renesmee.” He said, his voice dripping with worry.
“I have to go.” I berkata quickly. Grabbing my kot and duffle back I sprinted out the doorway, just as the rain began to fall. I glanced back at the house to see Billy sitting on the porch, staring out at me.
I rested my head on his chest with a soft moan, my hands tucked under my chin while I stared into his softly contoured face.
