is this some kind of joke? Cuz I'm not laughing. Maul would totally win. He could just use his lightsaber and cut off her head. ;p

I'm not sure if this question is "who wins in a fight" or "who do you think is better"... but Maleficent wins on both. Darth Maul has become like Boba Fett, they are both overrated.

In trems of powers and abilites, Maleficent is just more powerful.
Maleficent is one of the most powerful villains in Disney history. Her powers are magic based. Using her staff she can conjure up her spells, for example, lightning projection, divination, and teleportation. Merryweather also implied that she was capable of summoning frost storms. She can even cast powerful dark magic spells like her forest of thorns. She was also capable of flying by conjuring energy from her staff in a similar manner to a galaxy or a helicopter rotor. One of her most powerful abilities is to transform into a massive black dragon that breathes fire.

Maul only showed basic Sith skills and powers, the whole time he's fighting in episode 1, he did nothing but retreat until he couldn't go anywhere else. He's come back a few times in the comics and animation only to be killed off again and again.

In terms of character, Maleficent actually had a personality. Maul had none. He was not very interesting, he lacked any kind of motivation or personality. He needed to be killed off because he's just a one-dimensional character. The silent anger killer in black just doesn't cut it here.
