What makes Scar such a popular villain?

Scar is very popular because he killed his own brother, which shocked people, he belongs to the most popular film ever, he's sarcastic and funny and sexy besides being a villain, he wanted to be king and many people understand his sadness for being behind his brother's shadow and he has got one of the most amazing Disney villain songs ever: "Be Prepared".

The depths that aren't Disney type:

MURDERING - not just killing but planning on it so it's a murder - his own brother AND his nephew. And that murder moment is shown extremely close up, literally, as is the how much Scar enjoyed the moment.

I believe Scar planned out absolutely everything. From the way Simba would start believeing it was his little roar echoing that caused the stampede (Scar literally tells Simba to practice his "little roar"), to how Mufasa would do anything to save his son and to try and save himself to be there for the boy afterwards, to how Simba would see everything excpet Scar's part in the matters.

Then; he throws the whole blame on his nephew, who was only a very young child and Scar does this without any hesitation atau regrets and at the worst possible moment; when the child's crying in the arms of his dead father.

And as if this wasn't enough, Scar intents the child to die an ugly death sejak a small pack of hyenas tearing him apart; he means the child to die like that, with genuine belief that he had caused his daddy's death.

Years later when it turned out Simba in fact is alive and tried to take his place as the rightful king and obviously tried leaving the tragedy behind, Scar still tries to tear the wounds open and manipulate Simba's mind and emotions, knowing there is no way Simba could've got over it entirely. However this time his intentions are not to simply make Simba blame himself again but have the lionesses including Simbva's mother and lover - to blame him too. To have him confess in front of his loved ones, to a lie that hurts him enough anyway. (Sarabi: "It isn't true. Tell me it isn't true!" Simba: "It's true." I just Cinta that moment; his motheer actually thought it might be true that Simba caused his father's death in any way that should matter!)

Then Scar corners Simba with tha pack of hyenas, talking to him as if he was still a child but with menace in his tone and in the end driving Simba to almost fall into his death. "Oh, Simba... You're in trouble again. But this time daddy isn't here to save you. And now, they all - heard - WHY!"

Then he just calmly tries to recall where has he seen the situation before as if he didn't remember while Simba's desperately trying to stay alive. But I think this is Scar's most powerful villain moment, when he does exactly the same he did with Mufasa all those years ago, and crouches to whispers into SImba's ear "And here's my little secret: I killed Mufasa." and of course had planned to throw Simba off the cliff just like he did to Mufasa.

That would come around to how he had intended teh child SImba to die an ugly death believing to be guilty of his father's death only this time Simba would die knowing the whole truth and how he had suffered for years, but being innocent.

Scar is very (proper) yet so evil.And he can pretend to be on the good side for so long. And the diference betwen him and many other Disney vilans is that he dosn't apear lika a villin untill he admits it.

Because he's so cool and evil. plus, I Cinta lions and Scar has this evil look and his big green eyes makes him the coolest Disney villain. plus, this pic bellow gives me the chills.

Scar was based on Hitler as an inspiration.
Scar's deadly combination of arrogance, selfishness, and hatred that drove him into committing a well planned murder had him completely taken over in his mind.He seems to have a polluted mind filled with the enjoyment of violence and bitterness. Stuck in a world full of empty darkness. He sees nothing but the bad side of life. Having the ability to make such shocking moves out of anger and jealousy. Trapped sejak his own icy soul. Traumatized sejak the burning api, kebakaran in his hati, tengah-tengah that even while it burned left his hati, tengah-tengah frozen. As he plans to take over Pride Rock. He throws his carelessness out on an innocent young cub while putting both the lives of his nephew and brother on the line for his "successful happiness" as in being a villain, his main goal is to do whatever it takes to reach his dreams. Even when it means putting other in the way of dangerous life threatening harm.His intentions are pretty devious. With much delight he takes in every single moment of such a treacherous world. He's manipulative,convincing and very elegant. His intellectual mind + being power hungry and a self driven Diva = interesting character trait. His vile temper seems to be formed from troubles in the past."Decades of Denial" His scar and name may also represent that. His name in the book series was "Taka" . Which means dirt atau trash in swahili. Not to mention the goatee, Sexy black mane, Darker color, glowing green eyes, scar, his prissy attitude, and his drive for bloodshed.He has his hyena henchmen do all the dirty work for him sejak promising them something in return. He is also pretty rude, sarcastic, and even funny sometimes. Making tease about Simba's past and talking to a tetikus about his problems. He is creepy an weird. But not dumb. His huge ego was his big downfall. makes him one of the most all time kegemaran and evil villains of all time.

well, in my opinion he's not only jealous of his brother, but hurt in a way. I am a huge peminat of Scar and I read almost every fanfic on him and i have noticed one thing in common with all of the writings. he was abused. not only sejak his so called good brother, but sejak his own family. his name before he became Scar was Taka. and in Swahili that means, " trash,want". so I can see where he was coming from with his murderous deed. it was plain justice.

but before i get carried away, lets get back to the question.
and the answer is basic.

he's cool,persuasive,intelligent,dark,brooding,sexy,does not give up easily. and lets not forget his sarcasm,random hilarity at times and his comical and awesome expressions.

I have no idea, because I never liked him.

To me, Scar was always interesting because he didn't get what he wanted because he was scarier atau stronger then the other characters, atau because he had any magic that put him ahead. He was a knew type of villian; he was smart and cunning and sneaky and got what he wanted sejak manipulating others, instead of just taking it away sejak force. It was interesting to see a "good guy" (Mufsa) being stronger then the bad guy (Scar), but still being beaten sejak him.

well i think hes popular of being evil because he kiled mufsa his brother

scar is not only my favourite villan, but my favourite Disney character of all time. I find his evilness and determination villanous, yet inside anda see a much lebih charasmatic lion, as he is sarcastic and sly, and a very good liar. most would think of him as a coward, as when put up to a battle he runs away. Yet at the end, when Simba is lebih vunerable, he puts up a fierce fight and almost defeats him. Also, i find him sexy. XD

i liked him because his hair is black, not like lions we know, and also his skin color is darker than other lions, and also he is the only one who killed a brother than the other villains, and he is also very cool, especially his eyes, i really very like his eyes

Because he was the only lion in the movie with orange fur,a black mane and a scar over his left eye.Also for killing Mufasa.

I think Taka a.k.a Scar is the perfect Disney villain because he has the motive(His father Ahadi treated him really badly because he was the younger son therefore could not become king) so he had to kill Mufasa. He also can be so decieving. I know some people say that there are plenty of decieving vilains in Disney Filem but no body can actually pull off the famous line "All the lebih reason for me to be protective. An gajah graveyard is no place for a young prince... Oops! Oh dear I've berkata too much!"

Because Scar was able to something that no other villain was able to do: kill off a main character

Scar is popular because...

Scar is elegant and poised, but unkempt and wild looking. He also speaks with an English accent. He is perhaps the most evidently feline lion in the film, lithe and melanistic in appearence with a sleek, black mane, dusty orangey brown bulu and distinctive, almond-shaped green eyes. He has large, white paws with long, curving black claws that unlike those of other lions in the film are always bared and never retracted, perhaps alluding to his vicious nature. Scar also sports a white goatee beard, characteristic of villains, particularly the evil twin archetype which is fitting telah diberi his relationship with Mufasa. Finally, Scar has a thin, merah jambu gash over his left eye, thus earning him his name. Scar remained pahit at his brother but was allowed to live in the Pride Lands. He did not attend Simba's presentation, much to Mufasa's disgust. Scar rapidly became jealous of his nephew, Simba's position as the seterusnya king of Pride Rock, and started plotting to kill both his brother and nephew in order to take the takhta himself. He started to recruit hyenas, primarily Shenzi, Banzai and Ed, to build an army. He used bribes of Makanan to get them on his side.

The first attempt the hyenas made was to kill Simba when the young cub and his best friend, Nala entered their territory. When Mufasa foiled that plan, Scar was seen in the background, who had watched the whole thing.

Later, Scar admonishes Shenzi, Banzai and Ed, telling them that they should have killed Mufasa as well as Simba. While it is possible three hyenas could have taken down one lion, it is unlikely that all three would have survived; this demonstrates Scar sees them as expendable. He promises during the villain song Be Prepared that under his rule, they need never go hungry again.

His arrogence like all human kind...

I think it's because every other villain explains their plan right before taking over, whereas scar just barely hints at the answer. His only downfall was his ego, his need to gloat before killing simba.

Scar is very popular because a lot op people understand his pain.He was saat in everything.And he is very smart and intelligent.And the voice of Jeremy Irons makes him very cool

First of all, Scar is a cunning, sarcastic
therefore funny, and handsome lion.
Next, he is definitely the most interesting
Disney villain (or just drop the Disney ;)
since he can be evil without need of
magic. And also, he manages to kill
a main character: try to find another
Disney villain who does that. There

When it comes to villains, he's almost perfect. He's high intelligent, manipulative, he has motive and charisma, and nothing stands in his way.

The lion king was very popular and still is. It was based on Shakespeare's Hamlet. Scar is the main villian in this movie.

His intellectual mind + being power hungry and determined to do anything to get his way = disaster.

Scar Is Cunning, Scary, but he also makes anda feel like anda want to be with him. anda don't really know what he's like as we don't have much of a backstory here. His voice actor is perfect too, Jeremy Irons.You are curious about what he is going to do next
