lebih Anime reviews:

Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo—I wasn’t expecting much warmth from a tunjuk about revenge, but there’s romance here, and friendship of the kind worth dying for. Not a faithful adaptation of the novel, though—I read the book afterwards (all 1400+ pages!—fortunately it wasn’t boring.) I suppose if this gets anda interested in Membaca the classics, it’s worth it.

Generator Gawl—my third kegemaran anime. A 12 episode time travel paradox tale. The trio of bishie boys (Gawl, Koji, and Ryo) was instantly loveable, and they genuinely cared about each other. This was a welcome change for me since it was an early series for me and most of my prior experience was with Cowboy Bebop, where characters go around Berlakon like they don’t care about each other. Some of the revelations in the exciting climactic episodes of Generator Gawl are extraordinary! In my personal collection—I’ve watched it three times dubbed and three times subbed. But who’s counting?

Get Backers—They started menunjukkan this on Anime on demand on my cable system, and I tuned in and instantly fell in Cinta with it. I looked up how many episodes there were—man, 49? At this rate, it would take to the holiday season. Last holiday season I was watching two series (that weren’t that good, incidentally), and they didn’t add new episodes around Krismas and New Year’s, and sejak the time they did start adding episodes, they had skipped over those episodes that had been preempted. And that’s no good for anime, many having continuing story lines, meaning anda can’t just skip around episodes. I ended up giving up on those series. I decided I had to watch “Get Backers” on rented DVD. Both Blockbuster and Rent Anime were having free trial promotions, so I took advantage of them, then I took my Netflix account off hold for a month. Man, I don’t think I ever watched a series so fast!
I’m not into boys’ Cinta atau yaoi, but I am so into boys’ friendship at least, and this is a great series for that. I hope no girl ever comes between Ginji and Ban, the two young men who partner as the Get Backers, a “recovery service” that gets back Lost objects and even lebih insubstantial things for clients, yet manages to remain broke. But at least they’re happy, especially with the restaurant Honky Tonk being willing to let them run up a tab in the thousands. Ginji is a wide-eyed innocent who often goes chibi, yet somehow used to be the intimidating leader of a gang. It brings to mind the song that goes, “But I was so much older then; I’m younger then than now.” Ban is lebih brooding and mean to Ginji sometimes, but anda can tell he loves him.
This series also has villains who become friends, who sometimes become enemies again, atau maybe stay friends. Oh, well, I ended up liking everybody. Of particular interest is Akabane, a.k.a. Dr. Jackal. He’s not so much immoral as amoral, and casually does whatever interests him. He’ll fight with atau against the Get Backers.
I’ve wavered between giving this series four stars instead of five stars, though. Sometimes my mind wandered when certain scenes seemed a little boring. Too much dueling, I guess.
    In my personal collection.

Gun x Sword—what can I tell ya, this series was a lot of fun. It did leave some things hanging in the air, though, like which girl if any van would hook up with. And I was never quite clear on why the Claw killed Van’s bride. van having a Lost Cinta in his past is comparable to Spike’s Julia in “Cowboy Bebop”, but unlike Julia, Elena works for me somehow. I also like van being a virgin and being unashamed to say so. It’s a breath of fresh air when so many modern characters (non-anime) are sexually active outside of marriage. And no one would accuse van of not being a man just because he hasn’t had sex yet.

Gungrave—Like Gankutsuou, I wasn’t expecting much warmth from this, but it’s there. There’s Brandon’s caring for Mika—even though she’s the daughter of a woman he loved and another man. Now that’s true love, taking care of your sweetie’s daughter sejak someone else. But what interested me most was the friendship/enmity of Brandon and Harry, which wrapped up in the last episode in a most satisfying way. One of the best last episodes ever! In my personal collection—couldn’t let that last episode go.

Gunparade March—this is a mecha show, but with lebih scenes focusing on student life and relationships. The ending is the sweetest ending I have ever seen in an anime. Let’s just say anda won’t be frustrated sejak another potential romance being left hanging. Yes, the Ice Princess and the Awkward Teenage Boy get together. In my personal collection just for that romantic ending. They never do resolve what happens in the alien war, though.
