Some people financially can't support their parents. Some people's parents need medical attention that they aren't equipped, or don't feel equipped enough to deal with.

Also, I'm really lucky to have my parents, because they're awesome and so sweet and they've always done so much for me! So I'd be happy to support them with all I have.
But some parents are just awful. Really awful. I have a few examples like;
parents making their kid take a job and pay everything herself(extra schoolbooks(like books that help you prepare for your exams), clothes, schooltrips, etc)
Or parents that abused you or let someone abuse you.

I say if the parents are good enough parents to deserve to be supported by their child, it goes without saying that the child does that. Like I would.

Parents have to take care of children: after all they wanted to have children. Children do not have to take care of their parents, they should not have any obligation to do that, legally or morally.

I wouldn't help someone who didn't love me, so why should the law say I must?

For people who have bad parents this law would be even worse, but I don't think you have to take care of your parents even if they were good, loving and kind parents.

Oh, they want to me to support them, but I need to worry about myself first, I can't be a young-adult and think about having to take care of my mental parents all the time...children are one thing, but then adults...they seem worse than children to me sometimes...

I just would absolutely hate it to have to support people that I did not ask to bring me into this world...

All in all I think by paying taxes I would be supporting them enough as it is!

My point exactly. Parents wanted the kids. The kids never asked to be born. I love my parents and I do plan on taking care of them to the best of my ability. But there are kids who have awful parents and they shouldn't be legally held to care for parents that never cared for the.
Likewise some kids wouldn't be financially able to do so.
