So Mulan is my kegemaran Disney Princess movie but this is not about which movie I like more. It's about which movie is better objectively, I will try my best. I'm not going to nitpick every single little details because let's face it, no movie is really perfect. Besides, I hate going on and on because I'd rather cut to the chase. I'd Cinta to read your agreements atau disagreements.

10. Pocahontas

The film had a lot of potential, shame it did not live up to most people's expectations. I absolutely Cinta the animasi and score. But aside from those things, a lot of stuff happened out of nowhere. For example, when Pocahontas just knows how to speak English. I also think a lot of things in the movie was clichéd. John Smith was going to kill Pocahontas but he didn't because she was beautiful so I don't see the meeting as being a breathtaking scene. That's another thing, Pocahontas sometimes just stands somewhere and does a dramatic pose. There weren't much interactions between the characters like Pocahontas immediately judges Kocoum without really trying anything out with him. I also thought Kocoum's death was an awkward scene. A movie can be good even if it's inaccurately correct, that's obviously not the problem for me.

9. Princess and the Frog

I enjoyed this movie but let's look at the problems. Dr. Facilier's goals were questionable... The animal sidekicks were kind of useless. It has many plot holes like how charlotte didn't turn into a frog when she kissed Naveen and the ending was rushed. I don't think Tiana should've gave up everything for Naveen at the end since she was so determined and independent through the whole movie. There's just too much stuff going on. I think the songs are nice even though some say they're unmemorable.

8. Cinderella

Cinderella is one of the most important Disney Princess movies. The film is exciting but not that much stands out of it. Don't get me wrong, I really Cinta this movie but it doesn't compete with the rest. The dress transformation was beautiful, the animasi might not be the best but it's appealing to the eyes. I think they made Cinderella too loveable and the villains too detestable but it's good in a way. Even if I knew what was going to happen, I was relieved when the slipper fit Cinderella's foot and Lady Tremaine's face expression was priceless. So happy for Cindy at the end.

7. Sleeping Beauty

Like a lot of people say, the animasi is like a moving painting and the score is grandiose. But animasi and score doesn't make a movie. It lacks character development, no not because it's a classic Disney Princess movie but Aurora and Phillip are barely believable characters. They're the typical Knight in shining armor and damsel in distress. Sleeping Beauty is not exactly the most exciting movie but it rightfully deserves this place for its strong points.

6. The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid is very entertaining and ground breaking. I Cinta the ending and the soundtrack a lot. A lot of stuff were creative and unique. I don't feel much for the main character Ariel, she's not the best role model and always gets her way but at least she's not boring. Aside from that, I'd say the movie is undoubtedly amazing but there are better.

5. Mulan

There are some epic scenes but that doesn't make it the best movie. Some moments are corny and flawed but I don't really see much other problems with this movie. It has everything; drama, action, comedy and a little bit of romance which is great. I personally Cinta the score and the characters. They chose the best voice actors IMO. I wish I could put it higher but Mulan is lebih of a really fun movie to watch than a phenomenal movie.

4. Aladdin

This movie has everything from action to romance, it's a really fun movie to watch. Now Aladdin might not have the best score, but I think it's really enjoyable, one of my favorites. The plot and characters are really interesting. I Cinta the chemistry between the characters; Aladdin & Jasmine, Aladdin & Genie, etc. There's nothing really like it. The humor is great, though not everyone gets it. The ending was a bit rushed, Aladdin outsmarted Jafar in a silly way and then the Sultan finally changes the law. But oh well, there are much lebih good stuff to look at.

3. Tangled

I think the plot is very well done, everything falls into place. There are good virtues and the relationship between Flynn and Rapunzel is one of the most developed. This movie is close to perfection. I guess the only problems I see are the forced humor and that I wasn't really feeling the songs. I think they tried too hard to please the public which worked sejak the way.

2. Snow White and the Seven Dwarves

The one who started it all comes at number 2, a classic! One of the most important films. It's really cute and original. The animasi is lovely, the story is satisfying and the characters are fun. The Prince and Snow White fall in Cinta right away but it looks as if they were meant for each other. The reason it's not number one is because there's too many fillers. It's good that the movie takes it's time though, like when Snow White dies, it was a great emotional scene. It ended perfectly.

1. Beauty and the Beast

Perfection! I know, it's not really perfect but there are just minor flaws. The soundtrack is the best. The prologue just blows me away. The transformation scene and ball room scene are breathtaking. The animasi can be inconsistent but it's incredible IMO, I Cinta the characters' designs. The Cinta story is really beautiful. The characters are very well developed. The ending got me emotional. It certainly deserves first place on this countdown.

maryksand Definitely don't agree with a lot of your placements, however, the validity of your insight as well as the constructive, objective analysis is evident and admirable. It's a very well written, detailed and effortful article and a lot of the points you make are legitimate. BatB is a gorgeous but a profoundly flawed and ultimately overrated movie in my opinion, however, I can see why you ranked it exactly the way you did. The lack of humor and natural progression in Mulan (hence a handful of enormously contrived and forced plot twists that discredit and diminish the brilliance of this overall remarkable movie) does bother me as well; Ariel not being a "good role model" is quite a cliche although I can see where people are coming from in that regard. TLM humor isn't exactly my cup of tea either. Agreed with your analysis of Tangled and Aladdin entirely (aside from maybe the Tangled songs related critique. IMO I See the Light is superior to any of the Snow White songs, but that is a personal subjective perception).

rhythmicmagic maryksand- I'm not sure what "lack of humor and natural progression" you're talking about in Mulan, I'd be interested to hear what you have to say about that. I also agree that Beauty and the Beast is a very flawed and quite overrated movie. Interesting list, and I think you did a good job of looking at the movies in an objective way, though I disagree on several places. I would definitely put Aladdin down several places, for basically the reason Swanpride mentioned of how it is not timeless (some of the pop culture references I don't even understand because they were before I was little) as well as some gaping plot holes, many that were more obvious to me than any in Princess and the Frog (but there were plenty of gaping plot holes in Pinnochio, and that's been called the greatest animated film ever, so heck.) I'd probably also move Tangled down for the downsides you mentioned in the article as well as very unoriginal lead characters. If Tangled had been the first Renaissance movie, I don't think I would give a second thought to Rapunzel and Flynn, but there are too many comparisons I can draw between the two of them and other (Renaissance specifically) Disney Princess characters. I also think it has a similar flaw to that of Aladdin that the language used in the film is to era-specific and will end up dating the movie (but no where near the extent the language has already dated Aladdin.) I would also move Beaut and the Beast down for timeline inconsistencies and, in my opinion, a very disjointed and underdeveloped romantic development. I would also move The Little Mermaid up. Even though there isn't really any lesson the lead learns, there isn't in Snow White either, but no one faults Snow White for it. I think the story progression and character development was done perfectly, and I actually kind of like it that it was just a good story, without an incredibly heavy, incredibly over-done (did the phrase "hard work" REALLY have to be used every five lines?) message. Really good. Saving this!

dimitri_is_hot Wow thank you :) I didn't really notice the plot holes in Aladdin, my mistake. The movie not being timeless is not an issue for me. If I took that in consideration, the list would've been different but I see what you and Swanpride are saying. Interesting to see your point of view.

BelleAnastasia I agree with most of your rankings (as usual lol) Despite its plot holes and inconsistencies, BATB is a masterpiece! I also like what you said about Sleeping Beauty. It is truly a beautifully done movie!

Swanpride I really don't like Aladdin, btw. The only reason it's not a serious contender for the bottom spot on my list is that I can see why people like it and at least Disney tried to go creative with the movie. I guess you can objectively say what is wrong with which movie and what works well, but when it comes to saying which faults are worse than others, the result is subjectiv nevertheless (unless the list is as long as it is for Princess and the Frog). I actually think it is too difficult to make a one to ten ranking for the movies...I always do a top to bottom ranking, with Snow White as unlisted movie, because I think it's too difficult to compare it to the other movies. It has a lot of flaws, but being the first one, I'm inclined to give it a pass for stuff I would slap the other movies down.

dimitri_is_hot Snow White is far from being my favorite DP movie but I don't see most stuff as being flaws because it was meant to be simple and it works with that type of movie.

Swanpride Oh, I agree there...for example I think that Prince Charming from Cinderella desperatly needed some fleshing out, but I think that the Prince is simply the prince works just fine for Snow White. But what always bothered me about Snow White were the long scenes which lead nowhere. You could shorten the movie in half and I don't think anybody would even notice. I always have a hart time not to fall asleep during the first half of the movie.

dimitri_is_hot Haha I agree, a lot of scenes and songs are rather meaningless. Like when the Dwarfs had to wash their hands, it would just go on and on.

Swanpride Yeah, and when they have their little party, singing a song about nonsense...and later, the scene when they sleep, it just doesn't end! When the Evil Queen turns, that's the point when the movie becomes good, because from then on the narrative is very tight. But beforehand, it's just meandering.

Jayden-G Yeah, it would definitely be hard for me to do a list based off objectivity, I might one day. I understand the plot holes in Pocahontas and PatF, and a few others, but can anyone explain the plot holes in Aladdin for me? I already know about the fact that it is not timeless, but I don't really see plot holes. It would be year help if someone pointed it out for me. I agree with the people saying that the first half of Snow White can be a bit of a drag, especially when the dwarfs track the cottage, but isn't there a lot of filler in Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty? I know there is not as filler in Cinderella than they are in the other two. I don't know why, but something about Tangled just bothers me. I do enjoy it, and I do watch it a lot, but something about it just irks me. Can someone maybe help me out with why it can be irritating. Even though I disliked The Little Mermaid when I was little, I enjoyed it a lot more than I wanted to when I watched it recently, and I could not find any problems with it other than Ariel and her relationship with Eric. Mulan can definitely get too awkward at times, and the lack of humour can really put the movie at a disadvantage.

dimitri_is_hot I don't see it either in Aladdin. I think Snow White has more useless scenes than the other 2, though it makes the movie charming. For Tangled, and I quote ''the forced humor and that I wasn't really feeling the songs. I think they tried too hard to please the public'', those are my problems with the film. The Little Mermaid might also be trying to appeal to everyone too much, I think anyway. I think Mulan is funny so I don't really get the lack of humor in it.

rhythmicmagic Plot holes in Aladdin: I believe Swanpride once put it as "The entire movie is based on everyone forgetting Alddin's face," or something to that regard. I could always solve every problem with Jasmine taking the lamp and making one of Aladdin's wishes herself or setting Genie free for him. The Sultan suddenly decides at the end that Jasmine can marry whoever she wants, and we spent the entire movie struggling with the law he refused to change before. Just to name a few.

Swanpride There are also timeline problems. For example: Aladdin gets arrested, Jafar tells Jasmine that he was killed for kidnapping her. One, the explanation makes no sense, since the guards are surprised to see Jasmine with him, and two, when exactly was time for killing him? Jasmine would have hartly allowed to get delayed. Plus, there are a lot of scenes which make Jasmine look very, very dumb. Jafar is enchanting the sultan in front of everybody, but nobody but Aladdin notices. Is everyone else blind? Including Jasmine, who is directly beside him? When Aladdin first meets her, he tells her that he dreams of living in the palace, nevertheless she later belives the story about the prince who pretents to be a pauper. And then she never questions why he is still alive, even though Jafar told her that he got killed. She doesn't even ask! And yes, everyone in this movie is face blind, and most of the problems are self-made.

Jayden-G @ Swanpride and Rhythmicmagic, the whole "face blind" thing is a bit irritating. Jafar only realizes that it is Aladdin when he sees the lamp in his turban. I know this is a small point if defender for Jasmine, but in the "Prince Ali" sequence, he is walking through the entire town, and she could not have gotten a great view if his face from the position of the room. When he visits her balcony, she soon realizes it is him. The ending, the whole last wish thing is a plot hole. At the oasis, he wishes TO BE a prince, not to play dress up and pose as a prince. He was already SUPPOSED TO have his own land already. That is definitely a plot hole. I think that with the scene when Jafar attempts to hypnotise the Sultan in front of Aladdin and Jasmine, I think they were trying to emphasize how quick of an observer he is, and since he is the main character, he is obviously going to be emphasized more than the others. I wouldn't really call it a plot hole though.

Jayden-G Continued... With the whole timeline issue, it's not really valid because after they returned Jasmine, they could have been immediately be headed. Jafar just lied to her. The timeline issues in Aladdin are no where close to being as flawed and inconsistent as the timeline issues in BatB. To be honest, these problems are too big to ignore in the film, so I definitely do not think it is "The Best Disney Film", and is definitely overrated. Even though The Lion King is not one of my favourites, there are practically no inconsistencies. Someone should make an article about all of the plot holes and inconsistencies in each of these 10 (or 11) films. If there is already an article on the matter, let me know.

Swanpride Oh, and another thing: What happens with all the dancers, animals aso? Do they simply vanish? Are they just puppets? (The question really creeps me out). BatB's timeline issue is that the movie pretends that one day and one night are a really long time. It's a little bit wonky, yes, but it's more a matter of perception and not a matter of "That isn't possible! Why don't the character see that this isn't possible? Why don't the question anything? Why didn't they do this in the first place?"

dimitri_is_hot I suppose there are a lot of flaws in every movie if we really think about it, there are just flaws that I think are more annoying than others. Like the characters of Agrabah being face blind, it works because everyone in the movie is, it's fiction.

Jayden-G Yeah, and the people most likely disappeared after "Prince Ali", but that is kind of nitpicky. I guess the timeline issues in BatB can be overlooked, but I am a quick observer, and when I notice issues like that, it takes away the film's magic to me, and I can never see it the same way again.

maryksand @rhythmicmagic my primary issue with the progression of the story and character development in Mulan is a relatively unoriginal and overused Mary Sue construct that a significant portion of Mulan's arc was based on. The plot line and her characterization were outstanding and brilliantly handled, however, the lack of natural progression of the events and Mulan's transformation that was solely built on her obtaining skills and as a RESULT of said skills - a required self confidence she had been striving to develop did come off as a waste of potential in regards to this overall iconic movie/story. I agree with all of the Aladdin related critique, although there is one particular detail I would like to point out for it being the reason why this movie and Aladdin's character will always get major points from me: contrary to other Disney Princes whose character progression was ultimately based on the concept of changing for the better, Aladdin's defining moment of development and heroism was not linked to his romance with his lady, but to his willingess to sacrifice his one and only change to be happy on behalf of his friend's freedom (including sacrificing the only opportunity to be with a girl he loved by doing so). And this, in my opinion, is a much healthier concept than the one established and presented in BatB.
