First, it's not a romance. Second, it's about a clumsy, awkward, perpetual screw up that doesn't feel comfortable being dressed up like a "perfect porcelain doll" (as Merida doesn't) and who joins the army, kicks butt with combat, goes to war, saves the kingdom, and becomes accepted for her fighting prowess.
